Age 62? 18 stone +? Inhaler-level asthma since a wee boy? Crippled by gout most of the Summer?

If you can tick all of the above, you're probably me.

Can't sing the praises of the CouchTo5K highly enough. Into week 3 and keep expecting my legs or lungs to give out. Somehow never happens. Follow to app to the second, and though I can feel the leg muscles getting stronger, not a twinge of injury so far. Thus far I'd say the app is deliberately making you walk further than necessary to the point where you want to be let off the leash and run a bit more. Real head games there! Top work!!

Looking at my thread title you're probably wondering why I bother at all. Truth is, hand on heart, I probably wouldnt otherwise bother. Except my niece has twin boys, three years old, both battling childhood leukemia. So the CT5K gives me a beautifully structured pathway to the Preston Park (Brighton) 5K park run followed by the Brighton 10K next April to raise funds for childhood leukemia, a horror that no young family should ever have to go through once, let alone twice. I'll conplete that one if I have to complete it on crutches. Thanks for reading x

Welcome.

Well done so far. Keep on sticking to it exactly, it’s the best way to do this.

I’ll keep your niece and her boys in my prayers, and hope they win their battles. You’ll get to that 10k, ain’t no doubt about that... enjoy the journey to it. Good luck.

Thank you!

Well there is motivation indeed. Liking your positive mental attitude- that should carry you through the programme and your race. Have a look at some of Irish-John 's posts, I think he was nearly as crock as you and he's doing 10ks + now

Good luck :)
