Week 7 : Run 2

Did this yesterday and have decided Wednesdays could be a dangerous day for to run! Last week I bashed my head on a barrier and this week I took my first tumble. I fell down quite hard and cut and bruised my knee one one leg, bruised my thigh on the other and grazed my hands. Luckily (or not) I run in the woods so relatively soft surface. I have never got up so fast in all my life as I was determined to keep running. It was quite painful but the running made me forget quicker than if I’d stopped and felt sorry for myself. Luckily nobody saw apart from my dogs 😂. I was trying to keep my head up and eyes on the track ahead which although good advice can be a little dodgy when you run on a trail with tree roots etc although if I’m honest, I’m not sure if I tripped on something or whether it was caused by a little bit of fatigue and not picking my feet up properly 😬.

I still have moments in each run when I find it tough, luckily those moments seem to pass quite quickly and I get back into a good place. Like others have said, I have no issues at all with my breathing which is fantastic as this was one of the main reasons I wanted to do this, it’s fatigue in my legs that gets me but luckily it doesn’t affect the whole run, just certain times which can vary.

I don’t think I will run fast enough to achieve 5k in 30 minutes but I’m not going to stress about that and keep my goal for graduation to be able to run solidly for 30 minutes, hopefully without falling down again 😂

Ouch! I run trails mostly and I look at the ground maybe about 25-30 feet in front of me for trip hazards and then keep fixed on them as I get closer... it’s not too much of a difference from what you do. If I’m on road I rarely look downwards.

Wow though... you bounced. Straight back up and running? That takes heart... well done you. Hope the cuts and bruises heal swiftly.

Fatigue in your legs will improve eventually. Get past graduation and then extend to 5k and beyond and your 30 minutes or 5k will become more comfortable!
