So...I posted yesterday saying how I was looking forward to W4R1. Well, my day went to pot and it didn’t happen. 😢 my work commitments mean I can only fit runs in on certain days, so to keep myself on track and get 3 runs in this week I’ll have to do two on consecutive days. The app always talks about making sure you take a rest day. Will it be a big deal if I don’t manage that just once?
Rest day??: So...I posted yesterday saying how I... - Couch to 5K
Rest day??
It could make a huge difference a torn muscle would put you right back at run one after sitting this out for a few weeks or months.
I’d rather this plan take a few extra days than risk that to be honest.
Yes, it could become a big deal.
It's not so much a rest day, it's a repair day.
I also struggled to get the runs in due to work commitments, I even did one run at about 04.15, before a 12 hour shift 💤. The fact is you don't have to stick to 3 runs in 7 days, if you need 3 days in between due to work, take 3 days, or 4, it's better than risking an injury and ending up on the injury couch for weeks.
I was the same due to work and other stuff often struggled to fit in 3 runs per week plus days off in-between. Plus I also had a few aches and pains at the start..So I actually only graduated start of August and started the program in April! Still completed it...just slow and steady (as is my running!) I would say stick to your rest days to avoid injury as others have also advised. Good luck and happy running
Don't chance it. 👎
Do some other exercises, as long as it's not running, if you can. There's plenty of advice on the forum regarding alternative options.
Plenty of people spread the c25k programme over a lot more than 9 weeks. Pushing your luck may see you not only off running, but also off work. 🤕😭😢
It's great you are looking forward to the next run but patience is the key 😇
Like everyone else has said you greatly increase your risk of injury if you do that. You need to have been running regularly for at least six months but preferably a year before you run on consecutive days (and even then some rest days are still needed). I started in May and graduated in July, taking ten and a bit weeks, and we’re now nearly in October but I won’t be running on consecutive days until the spring. That does quite often mean that I don’t manage all three runs in a week but that’s too bad: an injury could set me back a long way, whereas missing a few runs just means my progress is a little slower but I’m still making progress.
