I've finished W4R1, and I'm finding that the runs are vastly improving my mood and mental health (I think?). The only problem is that on my rest days I feel really restless. I don't want to overdo it and not be able to run, does anyone have any advice?
Rest day tips please: I've finished W4R1, and I... - Couch to 5K
Rest day tips please
You don't have to rest; just not run (or other high impact exercise). So you can walk, swim, cycle, do yoga, any kind of strength and flexibility exercises; these will all support your running too
Enjoy!
Swim... walk.... cycle... climb... do Yoga, Pilates, a gardening workout, a housework blitz...strength exercises, stamina exercises... clean windows, cut hedges..do squats... walk miles with a small runner in training in her buggy..( oh no, that is just me:)) anything that is low impact... anything....just don't run!!
I feel that running has given me a clearer mind in some bizarre way - didn't know I didn't have a clear mind before though but I do feel different!
Walk, swim, cycle, dance, gym etc just don't run 😊
Sit on the couch feeling smug...................no, I am only joking.
The mental benefits of learning to run were a great and pleasant surprise to me. A positivity pervaded my life and changed my outlook on the world has continued after four years. Definitely the best thing I have ever done for myself.
Keep running, keep smiling.
Just get outside and move - I like walking smelly dog, or going for 'photowalks' with Candide the Canon. There's also cycling, and swimming, and gardening.
Thanks everyone. Went swimming today and feeling so much better. Hoping it might go some way to improve my running stamina too.
