Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this and countless thousands of C25K graduates started from exactly where you are.

Enjoy your journey.

Just wondering if this has happened to others

I'm sure it has.

I made it, but if anyone had seen me they would have been close to calling 999.

Seriously, I was barely able to put one foot in front of the other.

I think part of the problem is that we think we need to run fast on the running segments. You don't, just a very slow, comfortable jog (maybe even slower than you usually walk)

You will get stronger and fitter as you progress through the weeks. 🤗

It happened to me and I tried again. I realised I made a few mistakes, like not listening to my own music, eating the wrong kind of snack and going to quick.

Take a rest day and try again. Trust me you’ll do it! Going slow is the key to it all.

Half your first run is better than no run at all so well done for getting out there!

Next time you'll get a bit further ... take your time and trust the program.

The C25k program has seen many, many of us get through the first week and we've gone on to run distances and for longer than we ever thought possible so you can definitely do this.

There's lots of advice, support and encouragement to be had on this forum ... you're amongst a group of lovely running friends now!

So, good luck on your next run ... Go for it!

Thank you

Well done for starting. Take it steady. Try again but take it slow, it is not a race. Make sure you take a rest day. If you are concerned you can talk to a health professional. Most of us find it hard at the beginning.

I couldn’t do the 8 runs when I started. The first time I missed out 2 and cheated on some of the others- starting late or finishing early. 8 weeks later and I’ve just run for 28 minutes solid- I never believed I would be able to do that at the beginning- like I never thought I would be able to run for 90 seconds or 3 minutes. You can do it! Don’t give up.

You have tried it, and done half it first at the first attempt! So no, you're not too unfit to do it. As everyone says, take it slowly and you'll soon build up strength. If it takes more than 3 goes to complete the 8 one-minute runs, that's fine. Follow the programme and you will amaze yourself by what you can do and how good it makes you feel.

Well done for starting the programme Tired75-that really is the hardest part. You achieved 50% today, next time you’ll get a bit further. It’s ok to repeat steps if you’re not happy with moving on or you don’t complete a run for any reason.

Many of us never thought we’d be running for any length of time but this programme really works-just do what Laura tells you. It’s not easy but you will feel elated when you complete a section and we’re all here for you, particularly when it feels tough. Go slowly, this is about you and no-one else. Drink plenty of water throughout the day , not just when you’re running, and always have a rest day between sessions. You will crack this.

Btw, i’m only just over half way through (Wk5) but never believed i’d get here not having run since school (l’m 52!) If I can do it, anyone can!

Good luck and keep posting xx

Stick with it! You are definitely not the first person to struggle with this. If you're unable to run, keep to a brisk walk until the audio/podcast is complete and keep doing it 3 times a week, hopefully soon you'll be posting about how you were able to complete W1R1, and soon after that, you'll be on to week 2. If you experience any aches/pains that make you think you need a break, aim for that brisk 30 minute walk to keep yourself moving and in the habit.

We are all starting off where we are... which is different for everyone. Comparison is the thief of joy. My husband could likely start at week 4 and complete the programme from there with no trouble, due to his high base level of fitness despite not being a runner. If I compare myself to him, I'll feel terribly. Only worry about you and your progress!

Give yourself a big pat on the back for getting started and keep at it!
