W8R2 and 5K Advice

Hello my fellow runners! W8R2 is in the bag as of this morning. I felt I kept to a good pace and quite a bit in reserve when I finished. It was brilliant! I signed up for my first 5K race this Saturday morning. I will join the see of people for a fitness celebration. I think this will be a perfect segue into graduation week!

Now I am looking for advice. What do you eat the night before? What do you eat the morning of a race? What are your pre-race traditions? I am incredibly excited and looking forward to any and all wisdom!

If you felt good this morning, do that routine! Maybe a light breakfast at least two hours before the run... maybe a banana an hour before. Pre-fuelling isn’t really needed, so do what makes you comfortable.

Good run today... enjoy the 5k

Thanks friend! I don't usually eat until after I run in the morning but was debating whether I should for the race. I have been running about 7am-7:15am, right after getting up and the race is at 9am - so a bit later.

Yeah, you may need some breakfast early doors... no big fry up though... you can have that for lunch

Hydrate well as usual..no need for anything special to eat, if you have a good diet normally.

It is 5K and you should be fine..and steady and just do your next Week 8 run..😉

If you do eat..then just eat light..a couple of hours before..but if you don't normally eat before running..then eat afterwards..

Thanks OldFloss! Yes, I will have my last week 8 run along with the race. It will be glorious!
