Any advice as I am on wk4 . A 68 yr old lady with arthritis !

Planning to replace 8yr old trainers today with new ones. Although the ones I have are really comfy.

Are you having a gait analysis done? Worth mentioning if you are. They will assist you in selecting the most appropriate running shoes ( cheaper if you select last years model too) Congratulations on starting your journey. Lots of support & advice on this forum 👍🏻

Firstly, please check this post out.. it is full of helpful and tried and tested information :)

Begin with the, How to run C25K link first:)

Your shoes... and socks .. are the most important assets next to you :) Make sure they are fit for this is great job :)

There are quite a few of us, seasoned runners here..I was 65 when I graduated from C25K, and am still here, running three times a week, and loving every moment.

Here, age, really is, just a number.

Take it steady and take it... and listen to your body. It is your best adviser.

Keep posting too for terrific support and encouragement:)

Sadly comfortable doesn't mean suitable for jogging in. Getting a gait analysis and then the correct shoes is really important. A good running shop should be able to help. Buying the right size, probably at least a half size larger than usual, should mean they'll be very comfortable. The correct support won't help with the arthritis obviously but should minimise any aches and pains from running.

Well done for getting to week 4 👍👍👍

Keep on going 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hello Suppledupple, welcome! Like you I’m at W4. I’m 71 and repeating the week cos I got some arthritic pain in my hip. But i’m keeping going, running on softer ground and doing some strengthening exercises to help. I don’t want to give up - loving it and looking forward to W5! You wouldn’t believe how slowly I jog along. Your new shoes will make all the difference.
