I recently restarted back at to c25k... all the way back at week 1 and have had a hard time sticking with it...some vacation time away with two kids who woke up SUPER early the whole time, my bed is OH SO comfortable at 5:30am, and training any other time of day leaves far too many hours to come up with excuses not to. I need accountability! In the spring when I previously was doing c25k, I registered for an event and that gave me the motivation to keep at the training.
So - I registered for another 5k event, this one will be in winter, called the Santa Shuffle 🎅❄️ held on Dec 1. Eep! Looking forward to it and roped a friend in so I'll have a buddy to run with. She said "I think I can manage it if I train..." and then proceeded to tell me about running 7km two weeks ago... lol, I think she'll manage, I'm far more worried about whether I will, I just started week 2!
I think I'll be ready in time. 🤞 I learned a lot from my last, incomplete, c25k journey and am being proactive with strengthening to prevent the little issues I had last time with my knees, so hopefully I won't have achy knees that require extra rest days this time. And I'm doing yoga 🧘on my non-running days, which really sets a nice tone for the day, along with a good stretch and some strengthening too. I've promised myself that I'm sticking to the program this time... no continuing on past the podcast when I've got more in the tank, just trusting the process, taking it slowly and following what Laura tells me to do. I've told myself that if I've got extra energy, I can go for a trail walk later in the day to burn it off and put some extra km's on my legs.
I'm really hoping to stick with it this time, so my plan is to register for another event before this one occurs... that way even if I encounter challenges, I've got reason to stick with it and keep getting up when that early alarm goes off and do something to keep my fitness level up! 🏃♀️
