Stormy Graduation

2 months ago my running journey started under clear blue skies, my graduation run tonight could not have been more different.

It wasn’t only the stormy skies and high winds that were different of course. I’m different!

I ran...and feel like a runner, no longer embarrassed about being seen puffing my way around the local roads and tracks, no longer counting the seconds until I can walk but choosing to take the hard route, choosing the hills, not making excuses and loving it!

The last time I ran tonight’s route was week 6, and man did I need the walk in the middle of that run!! there is a 1 mile uphill section (100m increase in elevation) I don’t know if that is much of an increase but it sure feels like it!, it goes on and on!

Tonight of course no walking was on the plan, I got about as close to walking as I could but stuck it out, I’m starting to love that sensation of feeling like you’re really pushing yourself then finding your recovery whilst running (This is something of a revelation to me!)

Looking forward to some consolidation runs now and working out how to fit in runs now the dark evenings are closing in, not sure country roads (no pavements or verges) and the moors are safe in the dark!

Love reading everyone’s posts and thanks for the support!

Congratulations! What a summer it was huh? How crazy are we taking this on in that heat? I’m loving the change in weather and by the sounds of it I’m not alone. Look at you taking on hills on the graduation run... and yes 100m up in a mile is significant, long inclines are tough. Great job... that marshal was right at parkrun “runner coming through!” Enjoy the celebration, consolidation and your next journey.

Thank you!!

I must admit the wind blowing at the top of the hill was most welcome 😊

What a great post. Dark nights and no pavements to run on sound very dangerous, be careful out there rancher.

Don’t worry Agelesslass I’m thinking about how to stay safe, I won’t be running on the road in the dark 😊
