Can anyone recommend any funny podcasts I can listen to whilst C25K-ing? Also what is the best app to use?

I don't have any music in my phone, not bothered about that

Thanks

I like Rhod Gilbert’s best bits BBC Radio Wales, Comedy of the Week, the Now Show and The News Quiz all BBC radio 4 and No Such Thing as a Fish.

On iPhone there’s the (almost) native Podcasts

Not sure on Android but there’s probably a ton of players.

Downloaded Google podcasts 👍

If you want something funny, i would highly recommend "My Dad Wrote a Porno.." Hilarious, about an hour long each one, and there is about 40 so far.

Is it as dodgy as it sounds?!😜🤪

Ha - its basically 3 people hosting, 1 of the people has discovered his Dad has started writing Erotic Novels (poorly written) and its basically them reading through each book (there are 4 books so far, and each episode is a chapter) and basically rip it to shreds!

The podcast series is huuuuge now, millions of fans, live shows, doing a HBO Special in America, so its not some seedy little porno haha!

Its a bit adult, but not in a sexy way, more of a cringy way.

It’s hilarious I listen to it when I’m doing my runs and they are over before I know it.

Assuming you're in the UK, download the BBC Radio iPlayer app (make sure it's the radio app, the pink one), and it's fairly easy to find comedy programmes, and download them.

For non-BBC audio, if you're on Android, I've found the best app is Podcast Addict, which is free. You'll need to press the '+' button, then search for a title, and then tap 'subscribe'. The app will automatically download the last three episode (I think). There are tons of settings if you like fiddling with stuff, but works fine without any faffing. Just make sure you're downloading to your memory card if you haven't got much internal memory, and you're only downloading when you're on wifi, not 4G, as it'll eat up your data. You can then listen to the podcasts offline, so they're not streaming.

Obviously comedic tastes vary, but I'd recommend:

BBC:

- Radio Four Friday Night Comedy

- Comedy of the Week

- Kermode and Mayo's film review (not technically comedy, but they're extremely amusing)

- Infinite Monkey Cage

Non BBC

- The Guilty Feminist

- Do The Right Thing

The Guardian has regular lists of good podcasts too.

My favourite podcast is "The Parapod" but your mileage may vary :) I haven't really tried podcasts/audiobooks while running. Maybe I'll give it a go. Usually do music though.

I’m also a podcast comedy addict and pretty much survive on the BBC Radio Iplayer as described by Fender Telecaster. I follow several series and download before running. Any of the R4 18.30 weeknight comedy slot shows are worth a try, along with the weeknight 23.00 slot. There’s also loads of good old stuff on R4 extra. So if you search under Comedy on the App lots will come up. I’m enjoying Stop/Start this week, a ridiculous sitcom about neighbours. All time favourite has to be the Cabin Pressure series, which occasionally has reruns on Extra. Welcome to our Village also a good one if you go for sitcom. Enjoy.
