Well done hope I can take my inspiration from u if u are a grandmother because I certainly feel as if I am past my sell by date. Not concerned about what people think just want to do the best with the health and fitness I have and not injure myself
You should have seen me this morning. I got up ready to go and went back to bed for another hour. Second attempt, I got my trainers on for W7R1. Got to 22 minutes, hit a relatively small hill but half way up thought "Bugger this" and stopped. I knew something like this would happen today. The gremlins have been bothering me all weekend saying "You've already done 25 minutes in W6R3, you've proved you can do it. If you want to stop during W7 (because the runs are all the same) then do so." But after three minutes or so walk, I did a 60 second fast-as-you-could-go run and didn't feel satisfied with that either as my knees started to ache.
Sitting here I wish I could have another go at it right now. But I'll wait until Wednesday. I was doubly peed-off because the scales haven't moved this week. Still the same weight. 😢
Huge well done... Taking it a great pace with folk who are on the same stage as you... wonderful.
Yes, it is..one of my first runs there, after we got our holiday home there. I have some brilliant runs. It was blooming hot there this year!! I run up the bank from Marine Terrace... when I am feeling energetic
On week 6 - I’m 56 and cant believe Im out there running 3x a week and loving it. Parkrunning every Saturday and even made sub 40 mins this week. Ive redone a week and struggled with headaches (fixed - think I was dehydrated) but so pleased im still going on with it. Got a way to go but I never ever believed I’d get this far Feeling happy!
Cheesed off! Graduated 2 days ago and obviously overdid it as I'm now suffering a really sore bum (both cheeks) and a wonky left knee🤕. Any suggestions other than rest? I was so looking forward to parkrun on Saturday. Such a shame as I'd escaped injury all through the 9 weeks.
I’ve just done the same. Ran two consecutive days and pushed hard, now knee trouble too. I’ll rest a couple of days and start using those exercises oldfloss posted.
Aren't we daft! It was all going so well 😁. I've read somewhere that its when you think "this is a piece of cake" that injuries happen. I must calm down a bit and not try too hard. After all, I must already be 100% fitter than I was 9 weeks ago. Hope you recover quickly.
Thanks, you too. Keep us updated on next week’s post. I thought I was “couch to elite athlete” and it’s brought me back down to earth, in a good way. Small and steady improvements and all.
Injuries happen.. all of my stays on the IC except one were not running related which made it worse! But, we do get back to it.. and doing some upper body, or arm exercises can really help whilst you are on the IC.
What a lovely photo, I would not like run up that hill, not yet anyway. Just completed w2d3 really enjoying it, I know it's going to get tougher. I am 57 years old and can't believe I'm doing it. Great to be part of this group. Thank you, the support and advice is very encouraging.
Its just a hill to walk up The running up bit. climbs towards it... on of my favourites! Not!
If you keep it slow and steady and don't push too hard, you will be fine. Each run is different, but each one also makes you stronger. The plan is intended to build up your running legs in a safe structured way.. so by taking it gently. You are ready for each run
