Week 4 Run 1

It’s my first time posting here, but I’ve been following lots of posts and finding them really motivational. Completed W4R1 today which meant a 5 minute run. My breathing felt fine but my calves were tightening at the start of each run section. I tried to stretch them out at each walk interval but it didn’t really help. Any advice for if this happens again?

Have you read the advice in the FAQ pinned post... ?

Warming up well is essential as are the post run stretches...trey to land very lightly too. I call it kissing the ground with your feet..try to relax too.. slow down and consciously loosen your shoulders fists and face etc... you could be holding your body tensely , which will impact o all bits of your body:)

Calf exercises may help..pop some in with your rest day exercise...

Hi, I did W4 last week and it was exactly the same for me, R1breathing fine but really painful calf muscles which meant walking out the last minute. R2 a bit better but still hard. But R3 was fine, no problem at all. I think it's a case of getting comfy with a steady light jog and also legs getting stronger on the rest days?Good luck with your next run 😊
