Hello all, long time, no see

It's been 9 months since I was last on here, because I must admit I had lost my running way. I knew I would return to it, just wasn't sure when. So I kept receiving the daily updates from Healthunlocked (although deleting them mostly without reading) because I knew that eventually they would wear me down and I'd start reading it again, and want to get back into it.

New house in a new county in November last year meant I Lost my running mojo, especially when the road outside our house became like an ice rink. Then the Beast from the East kicked in. When spring came I just wanted to be gardening ... and then the heat! I couldn't run in that!! We did lots of walking, a bit of cycling and LOTS of sitting on the beach, but running? Not yet ....

But, 3 weeks ago me and Mr NW picked it back up again (at my insistence, I might add) and after a shaky start I can see myself getting back to where I was last year very quickly, which is encouraging and also amazing. A running friend once said to me "the body never forgets" (meaning if you did it before, you'll be able to do it again) and it would appear that mine hasn't forgotten and that it's determined to get me back up to speed (no pun intended) with this running malarkey.

So there we go. Nice to see all the new names appearing on here, and reassuring to see all the old ones too. Onwards and upwards.

Welcome back! It's a great place to be 😁😍.

It's good to hear what your friend said, "the body never forgets" - I love the idea that I'm learning stuff for ever.

Have fun xx

Hi NW, you might not have been running but you haven't been been sitting around for the last 9 months! I'm quite worn out just from reading what you've been up to 😰. Welcome back, I'm probably way behind you at the moment, trying to recover from an injured foot, so I'm doing week 2 runs while it strengthens. I'm guessing you've got some nice flat running routes in your new neighbourhood compared to Herts!

Yeah, flattish. We've got a nice couple of nice running routes that are mainly flat but with a few very do-able inclines. Mostly off-road along tracks, which I love. Because we've just gone back to it we're still doing running & walking but the walking bits are getting less and less I'm pleased to say, and we're only running twice a week and trying to do a couple of cycle rides as well. It's enough for me at the moment because I struggle with plantar fasciitis and it's always worse after a run or a long walk 😕 Hope your foot improves soon X

Thank you, sounds like we're in much the same boat, being sensible seems to be working ok so far! xx
