Hi everyone. I have just graduated 😁 but sometimes struggle listening to music. I enjoy listening to talk.. I.e. Jeremy vine on Radio2. For times when I run outside of that time.... any suggestions of what I can listen to. I noticed someone mentioned podcast... I don't follow.. I thought podcast was music?
Does anyone listen to anything except music.. all suggestions most welcome.
Thank you.

I'm not 100% sure but does the BBC iPlayer Radio app let you download shows to listen to offline? So you could download Jeremy Vine's show and then listen to that whilst you run?
EDIT: Yes, it does. I'm able to download Jeremy Vine from this lunchtime so could then go off running now and listen to it. You can do this with any BBC Radio programme I guess?
I listen to audiobooks too - use the app from our library to download them for free. I also use the occasional podcast off BBC radio too. I ditched music very early on. I find books or podcasts more distracting as I don't know what's coming next!
Audiobooks for me too. I don't have enough hours in the day to run and read, so killing two birds with one stone suits me. I agree too that an engrossing novel can help the miles whizz by. I only listen to my book when I am walking or running so a desire to hear a bit more can sometimes motivate me to run. I am a member of Audible and pay a monthly fee for tokens which are then exchanged for books. They have a great choice.
There are so many podcasts, if you have a smart phone you should be able to see a podcast icon. You can sign up for whatever interests you; comedy, arts, politics, educational and I am sure that you will find content that will support your running.
Lots of great spoken podcasts out there. Pretty much any subject you are interested in - just search on itunes or similar. Or as others have suggested Audiobooks are a good option.
Hi Sarah, I started off listening to music but now I'm onto the longer runs I'm finding it easier to listen to podcasts to get absorbed in listening and not think about the time. I'm a big podcast fan and listen to all sorts. I'm excited for you to discover them, it's like radio but so much better as you can always find things you're interested in, whatever you're interested in
Hi Sarah you can download any number of podcast apps from google play store - stitcher is a good one which has a free version, I use one called pocketcasts which is a bit more sophisticated and cost a couple of quid. You can also now use spotify to get podcasts as well as music - you might need a paid subscription to download them, I'm not sure (as I have a subscription anyway). Also google says that you can listen to podcasts through the google play music app which may well be on your phone already, but I haven't any experience doing it that way so not sure how easy it is. Personally I think a dedicated podcast app is your best bet
Now I’m close to graduating I’m planning to try one of the zombie run apps- I think you listen to your chosen music, book or podcast but every now and then an announcer warns you that zombies are chasing you...
