So, here we are at the start my last “easy” run before week 4 reminds me how out of shape I am. I’ve got The Fratellis on (really works for me), the sun’s shining and I’m currently doing the warm up walk. I was hoping it would be a little cooler out but here we are. 50 seconds of walking left and I’m on the back footpath... now. Let’s see how I do...

W3R3 - LIVE! Sort of.
Ok first 90 seconds done and I’m feeling a *tiny* bit warm. No drama to report yet but let’s see what’s around this corner. I am hoping for nothing.
Argh kids! So I made my way along the path, around the corner and... saw two cats, my kryptonite. It took a lot of willpower but I managed not to stop for them. But then I encountered a moving obstacle - kids on bikes! I had to speed up briefly to get through the closing gap between them but I made it! It takes longer to type these than I thought so we are no longer live!
All done and cooling down now. It is not easy to type these quickly and accurately with my stubby fingers but it was probably ambitious of me to try and write these mid-run...
So I got past the kids without stopping, one of them asked why I was running but too late, I was gone down the steps to the path. I did my usual dance around the slugs (still a few hardcore ones left enjoying the dry gravel) and got to the park where, to my socially anxious and very self-aware horror, groups of YOUTHS were gathered. I don’t like people seeing me run at the best of times, especially not young people. I don’t mean to generalise but there have been many occasions when groups like this have yelled insults at me about my appearance so running by them at an unimpressive and very sweaty speed is just giving them more ammunition really, isn’t it?
God, I love wearing headphones.
Despite my personal hang ups I didn’t let that stop me because that would ruin everything so I kept going and altered my park route to minimise encounters with them. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I usually do but I got through it but what really makes me feel good about it is the extra minute I ran before winding it down to a walk.
I don’t know if that’s good for me at this point or not but I just felt like I could do I went for it and I think if I hadn’t encountered the steps leading back to the footpath I could maybe have gone further.
But I think one extra minute is enough for now, I’ll get a lot more than that on Monday so I best enjoy this minor victory now and rest before we really step it up.
I am hot, I am sweaty, I am getting a beer.
Or two.
Baby steps.
😂 thanks for the live report... I thought I was running it with you! Great job. Don’t fear week 4... you can take it down.
Thanks I would do it in real time if I could! I’m looking forward to it, at least I know I can comfortably do at least four minutes at a time...
Cool updates! I am doing W3R1 tomorrow and feel more energetic having read your posts! Thank you🏃♀️
