Hi all

I’m wondering if any of you experts can help me. I aimed to do my last run on week 3 and I just couldn’t do it. The last run felt very painful. I only got to 2 mins before I had to stop. My left foot cramped up and I’ve also had a painful knee for a week or so. I don’t know what’s happened as when I did the second run i struggled but carried on. My legs are very sore. I can barely walk and my left knee is very painful. Could it be that yesterday on my rest day I didn’t do anything? I am determined but I’m worried I’ve put too much pressure on my knee and all my legs ache. I just couldn’t carry on. I will repeat the run but I don’t know what to do tomorrow as on no running days I usually go for a brisk instead. Thank you.

Hello,

My advice would be to have a proper rest for at least three days, maybe even a week until you feel stronger and your knee feels better. Then depending on how you feel, you could repeat the week, or go for that final week three run in the knowledge that you have to carry on into week four. It is your call, but definitely take some time to feel better before carrying on.

Thank you, I will see how I feel tomorrow and If I’m still aching I will have a rest for three days. Gutted 😪

The guide to the plan includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

For now rest up and if the symptoms persist see if you can consult your GP or physio.

Thank you. I’ve been drinking loads of water and just done some stretching which has helped.
