W5R2.... Sheeesh that was laboured

That hurt my legs. They were tired and felt like a struggle to keep them going. I had been looking forward to this one and excited about the next one which jumps straight to a 20 minute run. Now not so excited. Trepidation is more like it 😟

I have possible reasons for the tired legs but I'm not going to use them/It! Staying positive or trying to. On the very bright side I saw bambi in the fields as I was on my warm up walk. Happily keeping an eye on me in their space! 😁

Another run down... they’re not always easy, you got through it though. If you know why your legs were tired, that’s a positive thing.

You can do 20!

Thanks. I 'think' I will get through the 20 but with pure unadulterated determination.... I hope!

I’m at the same point exactly!! We can do this!! When are you planning your run?

Plan for my 20 minute run is Saturday morning. Going to try new route along the canal, even flatter than the 5mtr elevated route I have been doing (which was very flat and stretched out but I feel it 🤣)... I need everything in my favour 😎

When is yours planned for?

Yep Saturday morning.. 9.30 doing it as the parkrun and then just finish as best I can. We can run together in spirit 🤣

You're on! See you back here later in the day 😆 Enjoy... I'm sure having other people there will motivate you... just try NOT to keep up with the 13 year olds!! Own pace will save face 😃

Hope your up for this my virtual 20 min running buddy..

What is going on in our bodies if our legs feel tired but we don't seem to be out of breath? Anyone know?

Lungs not as easily tired as our legs are?!

I must admit I'm really surprised my breathing is ok. That was the area I thought would let me down. Years ago I hyperventilated running for a train just because I couldn't get enough air in and since then it plays on my mind.

I haven't mastered breathing in through nose and out through mouth and not sure I'm going to try, because I'm worried about panicking a bit if I'm not getting enough air in.

I heard whatsherface... erm... Paula Radcliffe, yes... talking about breathing for the marathon runners at the recent World Athletics meet in Berlin. She said you only use your mouth for breathing when you are running. Some woman had got a nosebleed and shoved tissues up her nostrils and was carrying on just fine.

So I wouldn't worry about breathing techniques or anything. Just forget about it and let it happen naturally. 👍

I had a great tip from someone on this forum. Drink plenty of fluid the day before your run. Sometimes achy and tired legs are sign of dehydration.

I’ve tried it and it definitely helps me.

Good luck with the 20 minutes run, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Just take your time.

Thank you. You/they could be onto something. I was flying back to the UK yesterday so had had limited water intake! Will fill up tomorrow ready for Sat am. Cheers 🥂💦💦
