Yeah you’re in good company Don’t worry about it 😃. You are going to be going only very slowly. No rush. Do read the programme notes as all your questions will be answered

i think being more mature is a boon for this caper as we are less likely to be gung-ho. Slow is the way to get the sessions done and walk away in one piece

We have loads of mature ladies here so you’re in good company One of our number is training for her first marathon aged 63. She started with Couch to 5k too, as did I 😃👍🏃‍♀️

Snap!

62 is the new 26

Well maybe not...

I've been following this amazing programme since May this year. I had to repeat a few weeks as I felt I wasn't ready to move on at the time.

However, today I graduated.

I'm dead chuffed and you will be too in a few weeks.

It can feel tough at times but it works, so please stick with it and feel free to share any niggles or achievements with the lovely, supportive people on this forum.

Good luck and happy running

Only a few thousand over 60s have completed this 😂. You’re gonna be fine. None of us are gonna be winning any Olympic medals, but it’s not about that. Week one is hard, it’s not meant to be easy. Each step of the programme has to push you so that your body gets a message that you need to be stronger. Age is indeed just a number, especially when running for a duration... look at your local parkrun and you’ll see the age gradings in saturdays results. Unless your local one is unusual there will be several in your age group that were out there and doing it on Saturday.

Very well done on starting this and completing those first runs. Week one is tough, no week one is TOUGH.

Hi, well done for nailing week 1.

I'm the wrong side of 65, had a few health issues and have never been a distance runner. This morning I completed week 9 run 3, albeit very slowly. The only difference between us and the younger ones is the choice of music on the playlist.

It's a great scheme, with fantastic support from the forum.

Enjoy the experience.

Yeah I started this at 62 and graduated a few weeks ago.

Today I actually ran my first recorded 5k run in just 38 minutes. Now I will be aiming to shave that time down a bit every week. But we oldies can do it - you are right it is only a number and it is how you feel that is important. And I now feel epic!

And you will too, with the support and encouragement that is on this wonderful forum!

I’m doing W4R3 tomorrow. I shall be embracing my inner snail from the get go 🤣

I’m 60, graduated in May, and am still running . Just trust the programme and take it slowly. Enjoy this amazing journey

Hello Mamakaz 1056, I looked for someone near me and wondered where you where? I'm in Wardley and have just started as an almost 61 year old, so we're pretty similar in age, you're doing really well, I bet you feel proud of your achievement!
