W5R3 - Still alive (just)

I have just done W5R3. OMG it was hard I had to sit down in the porch to take off my shoes as my legs had turned to jelly. Some of my running was incredibly slow but I managed to keep moving the whole way.  One thing that concerns is that after I had stopped running was was doing the 5 minute walk I felt quite dizzy and queasy . Is that normal after running that far for the first time? Maybe I am in shock as 5 weeks ago running for 60 seconds was almost impossible, I never ever thought I could make it this far. Couldn't keep doing it without you lot though. Thanks x

I felt like that after my first parkrun. Make sure you've had enough water beforehand, and maybe a mouthful of yoghurt or banana. Only other advice- go slower! Well done for completing the 20 mins!

Thanks for the tip, it was a good few hours since I'd eaten. It took me ages to pluck up the courage to go. I'll try that next time.

felt like that a few times when I just started the longer runs, just go a tiny bit slower, it should pass!

Good to know it's not just me. Thanks!

Well done on completing  the run :) it is a turning point to have that run under your belt.

Am thinking hydration before you run if you are like me I don't drink enough water during the day

I always worry I'll need to take a 'comfort break' if I drink too much, maybe I should at least drink something!

Well done, I'm on week 3 and really love hearing people's success stories. Running for 20 minutes is amazing.

Thanks 👍 It's addictive, I've even started dreaming that I'm running (in my dreams it much easier!) . Good luck!

I cant run on empty, I have half a nana and some water or else I feel very lightheaded and wobbly !

You will find your own way that suits as you go along , its all a learning curve ....

Keep going, youre doing great ! :-) xxx

Thanks for the encouragement. I will defiantly make sure I eat a little snackeroo before my next run. If anyone saw me staggering home they would thought I was drunk before lunch!
