So, after deciding I had something to train for, I went out on my usual trudge, aiming for at least 5k, maybe 5.5. and managed nearly six, as I got a second wind at 5, but stopped there, because I had a feeling I was running into 'injury country's regardless of how I felt. Could I have done more? Yes! Would it have been a good idea? As Consuela from family guy says: "no, no no Mr Griffin..." Brilliant run though, left me feeling amazing!
Although Strava having a MASSIVE hissy fit and telling me I did 10.3k altogether and my fastest k being 3 mins 11 seconds was... Absolutely hilarious, tbh. Eat your heart out Mo Farrah! ๐๐๐

Good run, youโre certainly wise to abort around 6k... you have a run to do and youโve gotta get there in one piece. Another week or two and youโre at your distance. Well done!
Haha, yes phones are pretty rubbish at times ๐ฑMy second wind usually kicks in at 5k too - nice on a long run but absolutely useless for parkrun ๐ Anyhow nice run, and you were right to put the brakes on when you did.
Be careful tiger. This is the prime time for an injury. Your muscles will have gradually tightened and got shorter as you went through the programme, assuming you haven't had a sports massage recently.
Pushing too fast over 5K tends to be where it can suddenly go "pop". So take care out there. Not a race...
It sounds like Strava has affected a few peopleโs timings recently! Well done on pulling it back and being patient- itโs best to get those consolidation runs in first and then follow the 10% rule. Your body will thank you
I'm planning on consolidating this run next time on Friday, then I'll be doing a much shorter, (3k or so) on Sunday with my son. Then, I'll push to six and a bit Tuesday or so and consolidate again the time after that.
