After a stressful few days at work, I needed this run. Headed out at 6.50am, into the foggy dark gloom, in my so-bright-you-need-sunglasses fluroescent yellow jacket - my first early and dark run since I started this journey. Got the 80's tunes on (of course!) and hit the park. Out of the blocks too fast and too keen to get into the run, I had to pull back midway and ease into a slower pace. Funny how the thoughts go, by the first 1km I'm thinking "maybe I'll just make this a 3km"... Other voice in my head "NO!!! you cannot stop, you are doing a 5km, you can do it!" At 3km, "how can it only be 3km????" Pressing on....by 4km I feel almost invincible and that I could carry on and on... Simple Minds "Don't you forget about me" came on with that pounding beat, "heh heh heh heh" π¦ π¦ pushed me to my fastest final km yet. 5km... I kept on.. just a bit! So, 5.30km in 37min. Not bad and I'm feeling much better than when I woke up, energised and ready to face the day.
Oh and my theory of making sure I don't drink the night before I run as it will impact my run????? Rubbish π€ͺ 2 large G&T's last night don't seem to have had any effect on this morning's run, quite the opposite??! There's logic for you but I won't be making that a habit lol π
Hope everyone has some good de-stress runs today πͺπ» π₯

Love that picture Runforurlife it just grabs that autummness,/wintery morning perfectly. I still after a years running have to reel my pace in after the first klm it's like a natural warm up pace. I could almost hear those tunes you were pumping (Even though I prefer the quiet side of silence when I'm out running).
Great time and what a way to energize your dayπ
Thank you πI started out on my running journey without music and enjoyed the sound of being outside, nature etc but I've found as I've progressed, I've really been helped by some good tunes to spur me on, especially some 80's corkers!!!
Waheeey! A 5k in the bag, well done ππΌβ¨ maybe it calls for another G&T to celebrate later... haha. Hope you have a productive day now youβve ticked a run off your list already ππΌββοΈ
Thank you!! I have had an amazingly productive and busy day πGetting a run in early for me is really a game changer. Who would have thought! I couldn't wait to get out there this morning lol
Ha thanks! Yes, I was about to start my run and saw this and thought it would sum up the atmospheric foggy run I was about to embark on. very Sherlock Holmes π€¨
Haha! Yes I know what you mean, when I got to the park this morning I realised how foggy it was and I couldn't seem more than a couple of metres in front of me. Spooky!! π»
Another great run in the bag! Well done you! I haven't drank in over a month but am giving serious thought to a few tonight after a long week π€£ got my first run of week this morning and I already feel so much less stressed! π
Thanks Jericho. Wow, you really are taking the cause seriously with the no drinking πgood for you. It does help on the clear head front. Tho strangely didn't seem to hamper my run this morning, pure fluke π Glad to hear you got out for a run too after a bit of a work related break. The de-stress from a run is much needed sometimes. My last run was also Sunday and I was itching to get out this morning. I didn't think I'd manage it as had a 9am meeting but a v.early run it was and job done ππ
Well done for getting out there early, sounds a good run, and a pretty good pace too, i know what you mean about the energy at the end, sometimes i think i could carry on, but worry about over doing it. I've never done an early morning run, tends to be evening, after work.Anyway, that's another run ticked of. π
Hats off to you on your evening runs, Peter. Not sure I'd have the energy at the end of the day and would find many excuses to skip it!!! Curiously, I seem to have become an early morning runner type person.. Really would never have thought that would be me but then, so much of this running journey has been full of surprises for all of us hasn't it?? I honestly can say I love running now and would be lost without it, what it gives to me in terms of clearing my head, helping me to be mentally stronger and physically stronger and fitter πͺπͺ
I know, i'm also getting like that, quite addicted to it now, and really helps, both physicaly, and mentaly, especialy with so much going on at home, at the moment. Actualy doing a day light run tomorrow, but not too early π€£, might try a slightly longer one, see how it goes! π
The photo looks like a picture straight off a murder mystery novel! Sounds like you had a great run- good distance and time - must have been the 80βs music pushing you on. Iβve got my run tonight-hoping to get home from work early so hopefully itβs not too cold by then. You can relax now and enjoy you G&Tβs tonight knowing youβve been good!
Yes I was pleased with my early morning foggy efforts π Just goes to show when you're not really expecting much, suddenly you can pull it out of the bag! Even after G&T's the night before π Hope you have a great run this evening π¦π¦
Just been for my run- another 30min 4K so staying consistent- trying to take it easy and keep my heart rate down - it was freezing but glad I went out and now Iβm going to have a nice Friday night glass of pinot Grigio and relax- enjoy your weekend x
Well done! Are you tracking your HR? I've no idea what is good or fast on the HR front. I am usually average HR 156bpm. Now you're going to tell me that is WAY too fast!! eekk...
Thatβs such a beautiful photo. I love the interplay between the artificial light and the distant glimpse of new daylight, and their respective casting of shadows and making of silhouettes. It even makes me want to run at dawn (but donβt hold your breath). Sounds like it turned into a magical run, gazelles with wings!
