Help help help 🤪🤪🤪

First run in ages! I have never been a great running but after recovering of a number of operations and not doing any exercise for nearly a year I feel incredibly unfit!

I hope it gets better.

Did you run already? If you did, you’re still here and you completed, that’s great... well done and on to the next.

If you haven’t, go as slow as you need to to still be able to talk... it’s about completing the runs, not how far you can go.

Welcome to the forums

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I finished my run 10min ago. I am pleased I did it. So embarrassed for being so unfit. 😑

Ok... so you completed and you did an awesome job. If you weren’t so unfit you probably wouldn’t be here doing this, so we’ve all been there!

9 weeks from now you’ll be so fit compared to now that you won’t believe it. That’s what this is about. Don’t be embarrassed... you’re doing something about it... that makes you a winner.

Thank you for your kind words!!

I must say that I have a small sense of achievement. Absolutely shattered though. It will be early bed for me today!

It is a huge achievement... and it’s gonna get even bigger. Remember the sense of achievement... use that when it gets tough... drive through to feel that again. Be proud of yourself after each run... post here so we can celebrate it with you. You will be a runner.

How long have you been 🏃‍♀️?

I used to run at a high level when I was a kid... then my knees blew up. 30 years later I’m back, I know what it takes and I know I can do it. I’m not all fit and healthy yet though... I’m on week 4.

Congratulations on starting and welcome to the forum.

Don't be embarrassed about being unfit. You are doing something about it and in a few weeks you'll look back and think wow look what I've achieved 👏👏👏

Do you really feel a difference this quickly?

I couldn’t see much of a difference until I ran 15 minutes continuously and didn’t feel like I was about to die! You will be so impressed with yourself when you see the difference doing c25k has made!

To be honest I'm only on wk2 but doing w1r1 I never thought I would be able to run 90 seconds, yet today I did and it was ok. So even if it's psychological there is a difference.

But everyone is different and will see benefits at different points in the program. The important thing is not compare yourself with anyone but you 💓

you will look back and be pleasantly surprised.

Have faith in the program and yourself x

Well done on the first run. No need to be embarrassed about being unfit, unlike most of us you have a good reason! Going slower than a slow thing that is slow is the way to do this, along with being well hydrated at all times. Lots of good info in the link below.

Hello and welcome 😀 well done on completing that 1st run .. the hardest part is over 😀

Take each run as it comes trust the program . Believe in yourself and run as slow as slow is to complete each run ..

We all started in the same place as you . Non runners unfit etc etc

This is just the start of one amazing (sorry J word coming ) journey enjoy it and good luck ..

Well done on getting started! It does get better - maybe not every run will be great, but you will quickly see differences in yourself, both physically and mentally.

I started this almost wondering why, as I hated any running other than 100 metres at school. Now I realise that I have found something I actually love.

I wish you a happy running journey 😊
