That was the hardest run I’ve done on the course. I did some reading beforehand and dismissed all the comments around it being harder than W5R3...I was of the attitude that, as I had breezed through the 20 minutes, I’d have no problems! I also gave it two rest days so that I could be fully recovered in time for this run and, although my feet still felt a little bruised, I felt super fit and charged prior to this run today!
Despite going really slow (I’m really slow anyway lol but wanted to pace myself today), it was when I’d completed 4 minutes in to the 8 minutes that I started to feel it....really struggling....it felt like I was carrying a backpack of bricks on my back. I was sweating buckets and gasping for air 😂 my calf’s were burning, legs tired and I felt completely shattered.
Anyway, I did manage the run without stopping........just hope that the others are better! I’m feeling some frustration and also fear in relation to the other runs coming up (like I feel like I’ve gone from super confident after the 20 minutes to now I’m not so sure I’ll be able to manage the remaining runs!) 😬 xx

You will manage just fine - wk6 is just there to throw you a curve ball😊
It really tests your mental strength - your legs can run it - you've done that 20min in wk5 - but somehow going back to the intervals gives everyone the collywobbles. Keep slow and steady and look forward to wk7 and beyond and lovely constant runs. Best of luck x
Isn’t it a pesky run? It’s amazing how many people get caught out by it, possibly caused by the complacency of smashing the 20 minutes of W5R3!
Still, you’ve done it, it’s behind you and you only have one intervals run left before the lovely long runs guide you to the end of the programme. 👏👏😀😀
Just treat like R2 like it’s R1 (ie respect it!) and you’ll smash it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so, so much for the reasurrance! I had to have a couple hours kip this afternoon 😂
Maybe it was that I was a little complacent...also...I don’t think I had recovered still from the 20 minute run...my feet and calf muscles did feel quite sore still. Well...I gotta get used to it Also...I am still carrying a fair few excess pounds 🙊 running is really toning me up but I think if I drop some weight (easier said than done with me!) running these longer distances will be a lot easier.
I will rest up and continue with the program! Thank you again xx
Just been through this myself, I think we build up so much (mentally) to the first 20 min run that it’s hard to believe W6 will be tough! I’m hoping my next run (W6R3) will be easier than today!
It is a strange one, and you did it. Maybe have a couple days of walking if you're still sore. I've told myself that it will take longer than 9 weeks to do this
