Hard work

Have just completed week 2 which was harder than week 1. I keep getting a stitch and I do find motivation difficult and harder than the run itself. I tend to faff about a lot about what to wear and where to put my phone!

Maybe you could try relaxation exercises, learning not to overthink it saves that brain power for the runs.

Good job completing the week... next one isn’t bad at all, you’ll be just fine.

Well, if you can plan ahead and have all that sussed in advance you might be able to focus more on the run.

Part of it may well be your subconscious finding ways to sabotage you. Those lazy gremlins have sneaky sneaky tricks.

The stitch issue you can work on too; some say hydration plays a part so make sure you're drinking more fluid in general and especially the day before your runs.

Personally I have always found stitches are more caused by breathing difficulties. If possible, slow down more and try to keep your breathing regular and not too shallow. If you do get a stitch, concentrate on deeper breathing. Get more oxygen in and be sure to exhale fully.

Motivation is hard but you should find as you keep going that you want to complete it even more and so you push on regardless 👍😉

Have you read the guide? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I’ve just finished W3 and found it better than W1&2, it’s hard but I got through it easier. Your stamina will improve as you go on. Totally get that faffing thing but like a lot of things, doing it isn’t as bad as thinking about it and you’ll feel great afterwards. 👍🏻

I completely get that, my family thinks it takes me longer to get ready than to run...I have repeated week 1 and will move to week 2 soon....but I did buy one of those arm phone holders to solve that problem and you can squeeze a key in it. Good luck....😀

Thanks for all the good advice; I have also just read the guide recommended by Go Go JoJo. Drinking enough water is an issue for me as is the breathing - how do you count steps and breathe at the same time? Week 3 starts today!
