W2R2 done - Get out of the way!

Ugh nothing ruins a good run like someone getting in my way. I didn’t know until just a few days but being forced to stop puts me in the worst mood. Fortunately it’s the kind of anger that can easily be run off in seconds but still, get out of my way! I’m running, I outrank you!

So today I had to deal with a car that was parked fully on the pavement and the moment I needed to run by it a van was speeding in the opposite direction so I was a bit stuck. Not long after that I encountered two teenagers cycling. One had the good sense to go in the road, the other just had to go on the pavement, didn’t he? And of course, it was a particularly narrow part so I had to wait for him to pass. Should’ve pushed him off.

Despite that, this was a really good run and it went a lot better than the last one. It might even be my best one. So on Monday I did struggle and had to have an extended recovery walk before attempting the last few runs. This time, I still had the same pain and breathlessness I had at this point last time, only this time I recovered from it a lot quicker and when the two minute walk was up, I was good to go.

I timed my preparation snacks just right, had a longer walk before starting (had to do a thing first) and I paced it a lot better this time. The running shoes are doing their thing and they’re doing it well but at the end of the day it all has to come from me so I can’t expect them to hold me up if I get cocky and burn myself out.

One minor hiccup halfway through that somehow turned out not to be a problem, I accidentally paused the app during a run so ran beyond the 90 seconds before realising. I don’t know how much longer but even a few extra seconds is something I’ll feel. Fortunately it coincided with a busy road I had to cross so at least nothing was interrupted then.

So as always I finished a sweaty mess, so disgustingly sweaty I almost drowned in it, and I was glowing red so brightly I’m lucky a plane didn’t try and land by me. But I did it and it felt great and even now I feel like i could do it again right now but I won’t because I might die.

Then I undid all the good the run did with a big rack of ribs but after a horrible start to the week for various reasons, it’s really turned around today and I can’t think of many better ways to celebrate. I can’t wait to run this off on Friday.

Aaagh, that sounds very frustrating! It's bad enough having to stop running to cross a road let alone all the obstacles you encountered! Well done on completing your run and doing extra. I'm only one run ahead of you; starting Week 3 Run 1 tomorrow and a bit scared of the 3 min runs.

I am also scared of the 3 minute runs, it’s a big step up! I’m sure you’re ready though, hopefully after Friday I will be too...

I’m also on week 3, completed run 1 Wednesday night so looking to do the second run Saturday morning.

Nice going P_M, you’re moving forward (except when someone gets in the way). Don't worry about the ribs - you need lots of protein to build those muscles 😀👍 Good luck with run 3!

I’m moving forwards, then angrily to the side and then forwards again. I need to find a better route...

Good job!

Wish you’d have recorded that in real time, it’d make me feel better when I think the gods are conspiring against me early in a run 😂

Keep rocking it and updating us, I love your posts 👍

Thanks, glad you like reading them! I have yet to have a completely uninterrupted run, the universe seems to have it in for us

I know just what you mean about things/people being inconveniently in the way. I usually have my dog attached to my waist, so I can’t necessarily zip sideways quickly, so why do people insist on walking on the path towards me two abreast and not move over just a bit. I would if it were the other way around. Grinds my gears every time!

Your run sounds eventful, but you did it and you celebrated! Good for you! Hope the next one goes well too, maybe with fewer obstacles! 😀👍🏻

Maybe you could use your dog to trip people up for being inconsiderate? I always move for others, think I need to rethink that. Maybe charging like a bill and shouldering them out the way is the way to go...
