MUNGO JERRY (AGAIN) TO THE RESCUE

So today I started my run in the rain. W7R1. First tune up, Bastille - Bad Blood. I found this quite upbeat but to be honest by the end of it I thought I was going to struggle. Then Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl - I couldn't get my pace. I think I was going too fast. Then, amazingly on comes Mungo and I get in to my pace which was easier for me. After that a tune I hadn't heard for at least 50 years - Roy Wood - See My Baby Jive - the beat wasn't right for me but hey I had enough puff to sing along - not the whole song you understand. Just the chorus - let's not get carried away. By this time I was still flagging and hoping that something was going to come on with the same beat as Mungo Jerry to help me out a bit. Someone must've been listening! If it wasn't Mungo Jerry (again)!! By that time I was nearly there - the rain had stopped - gladly, and I even managed to raise my game as requested and go a little faster for the last 60 seconds. I found it hard. Harder than the previous run which was exactly the same time. I see the next one is the same too so am slightly worried but also wondering how I can pull the rabbit out of the hat a little more effectively. I'm going away for 5 days so hoping to do my runs while I'm away which should help a bit with a change of route. Has anyone struggled with this stage? Advice please!

You’re supposed to be listening to your podcaster 😁. You will be tired if you’re listening to fast pop tunes 😃😤

Slow down and cut yourself some slack 💪👍🙂

I went on to Google and checked out music to run to and it was much faster and no specific beat - it’s the beat I’m looking for - a beat to go with my feet!

You can run slow to fast music too. It’s good practice

Yep, struggled at W7r2 yesterday, couldn’t find my rhythm, dog kept sniffing , I was dragging her behind me poor thing. Anyway, I basically gave up after 15 mins and walked the rest of the run. When I heard “that’s it, you finished you run for today” I felt quite bad about not being able to do finish the run even though I ran the same amount a few days earlier. Well, I restarted the whole run there and then and did it.

No music for me btw, I listen to audio books :-) English is not my mother tongue and listening to books takes my mind off the pains and niggles as it takes my whole concentration to follow what is being read.

There are apps where you can slow down the music to your pace aren’t there though? Or something like a pace selector? I used that years ago, can’t remember what it was called though “Rockmyrun “or something ?

Two runs in one day? Your dog must be exhausted! 😂 I take my hat off to you. I don’t think I could have done that although sometimes you’ve got it and sometimes it just ain’t there. I am now going to research Rockmyrun and see what I come up with. Thanks for that - if not, perhaps I’ll learn another language - that could be interesting 🤔
