Started off a bit fast today!

I was hoping I’d beat the rain today but it ended up being a rather drizzly run! It wasn’t bad though :)

I’ve found that my biggest problem just lately is that I’m starting off too fast! I thought this was something I was getting over but I definitely did it today and a little bit on my last run too! I think I genuinely just get too excited at the start 😂 but I know it’s better to be consistent than to zoom for the first km and then do the next one like a minute slower. And tbf, it’s not really about the time or the distance, it’s about feeing good for the whole run. When I start too fast it makes the middle of the run far more gruelling than it needs to be 😂

Still! I went a bit further than my other run this week so that’s great! And now I have a goal for my next run - take it steady at the start! 😂

Well done.

Just keep repeating this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

You’re not on your own there HexGirl 😀 I used to have a habit of doing that, still do sometimes. It’s great now I have my Garmin as I can easily check on my pace and slow down if necessary.

It definitely helps! :)

Don't be telling everyone you ran in the 🌧️ HexGirl you'll be starting a trend, there are those non believers out there ( even on here) who think they'll either melt or disolve 🤭.....

But when you've gotten a soaking during a run it's like WOW gimme more 👍.

That pacing issue it is hard, especiykf you've a naturally quick pace anyway, but....

Go slow! No slower! It'll feel wrong perhaps, even not normal but try it, concentrate on the slowing down, as per

Indielass00 mentioned, do you use a Garmin etc, perhaps set a pace reminder or take a glance. Those slower runs definitely are worth trying, and the benefits are huge, your ability to go further, run longer and faster will all see improvement 👍

Haha, I wouldn’t say I’m that into running in the rain! But I’m gonna learn to love it! Thanks for the advice! :D

You’re still learning HexGirl, we all are....made me laugh when you said you get too excited at the start, reminded me of our little dog when he knows he’s going for a walk 😂 except he never gets tired throughout the walk! 😬

How far are you reaching these days?

Hahaha, that’s exactly what I’m like! 😂 except I very much do get tired 😂 it really depends! Sometimes 5K, sometimes a bit less! I’m never too worried about my distance really! My main goal is just to get through the run comfortably and feeling good :) definitely not ready to strive for more distance yet! It’ll come with time no doubt :)
