Have i lost my mojo?

Just back from w6r2 and have to say I found that my toughest run yet. The 2nd 10mins were the longest 10mins of my life. I didn't stop I kept running but it was so difficult. I found w6r1 a challenge too. W5r3 was nowhere near as tough for me and I really enjoyed that run.

As I got to the end of the run today and Laura advised me that I should be used to running for a ling time now, so she's going to guide me through longer runs from now, I am panicked about moving on.

Is this normal? Any advice welcomed

When I read the plan W6R1 made me grin like 😈. It’s there, I think, to either stop you running too fast, or to try and give you some speed... I’m undecided, but it is as our American cousins say “a curve ball.” So it doesn’t surprise me that the next run would be difficult to get right, if that makes sense.

You toughed it out and got through it... well done. Mojo for me is still with you, but the plan tried to take it from you. It was a test regardless of intent, and I say you’ve passed it. My money would be on your next run going a lot smoother.

Relax, don’t panic, trust your legs and lungs, you’re ready to move on to the next.

I hope you are right. I have enjoyed my runs in weeks 2,3,4 and 5. Week 6 has been another matter. Will see how things go on Thursday

Hi. Had the same experience myself and think I took it too fast because I’d managed W5R3 without too much difficulty. I just slowed down particularly on the first run of weeks 7, 8 and 9 and all was fine again. I’m sure you will find the longer runs very enjoyable so please don’t worry.

Thanks. I'm pleased to hear it's not just me

I was the same - didn't like going back to the stop n start after wk5 run 3 long stretch. Wk 6 seems to catch everybody out a little. For me it was in my head that the shorter runs should be easier cos I'd done a long one - and that almost scuppered me. Have just done wk7 run 1 and loved it - think the continuous runs seem to suit me better- now I can do them 😁

Good luck with rest of wk and enjoy next wk xx

Thanks bandit. Will see how w6r3 with another long run goes

Don't worry about it, often happens after the euphoria of w5r3.. once the non stop runs kick back in you will be back on track .. just do what you need to do to complete the runs ..

Looking good for graduation then 😀😀

I guess so Rob. Just over 3 weeks - 10 runs, soon be in single figures! 😁

As all the others have said!! I posted my thoughts about W6R1 last night, and I've still got R2 to do tomorrow evening. I'm sure whoever put the programme together had a reason for back to short runs after W5R3. And, clearly it works as evidenced by all the graduates. Tough it may be but hang in there, slowing down if necessary. You're so close now and you will do it!!

Thanks for your support. I'm sure I will be fine. I just had a bit of a wobble!!! My confidence in the programme has grown throughout. But it suffered a slight knock tonight.

Wobbles are perfectly normal...you should see me run!!

I had a tough time with that one, too, but then run 3 was just fine. I've wondered if week 6 is partly a machiavellian psychological ploy to make us yearn for longer runs 😃

Good luck with run 3 - you'll see that your mojo is very much alive and running.

Hi Sandi,

W6 is a killer. Always has been, always will be. And creeps up and steals your bus fare without you noticing.

W5 is the big mental triumph. 20 mins in the bag. And it lulls you into a false sense of security and then W6 bites you.

Not unusual. We've all been there and got the teeshirt.

You did an ance job. Well done. Get through W6 and you've really nailed the programme. xx

Thanks for the encouragement Sallenson. Despite me not enjoying the run I am still looking forward to getting out there tomorrow, and will keep hold of that bus fare!!!!

Take some comfort that lots of people find W6 a real arse-biter (technical term alert).

Jog up to it nice and slowly and gently tomorrow, then hit it over the head, nick its dinner money and go and buy a cake to celebrate ❤

Haha! Sounds like a plan! Although I may have to save the cake til after my weigh in at Slimming world tomorrow evening!!

I'll say the same as the others, week 6 is really hard, especially runs 1 & 2. I've just done run 3 and I found that easier than the others. Just keep at it, you'll get there 👍

It's very reassuring to hear so many people struggle with w6 and it's not just me. Thanks Matilda

I was EXACTLY like you. I panickeď about the next runs! But it is SO much easier. I've decided it's better to keep going.

Also my advice is to find a podcast that interests you and leave that boring music behind. I listen to comedy and i dont even care how long i still have. I focus on the podcast. I laugh and run!!

Try it. You can do this!!!

Panic is subsiding and am now looking forward to the challenge of w6r3 tomorrow. I can and will do this

Hey Sandi lots of people found W6 challenging, including me! For some reason it disorientated me quite a bit and it was my most worrisome week of running, but I decided that I only had to show up and give it a go! And I’m sure you will find that your body just shifts the gear enough to get it done! And then it’s pure elation. One more run and goodbye W6!! You’ve done everything you need to and you’ll do the next run brilliantly too! You’ve done an amazing job and there’s more to come!!! Go smash that run Sandi! Show W6 you’re the boss around here! 💪🏽❤️

Thanks Fabulous. I wasn't going to let the run beat me yesterday and will not let it do so tomorrow. I may be running slower than a sloth but I will complete my run!

Sloths rule Sandi!! Keep it slow and easy. You’ll be brilliant. 😉❤️

Wowsers, when I did w6r1, it tripped me up and kicked me whilst I was down, laughing all the while! I'd aced the run before, feeling amazing, and went for a run overtired, overconfident, and expecting to breeze it. I failed, for the first time and it really knocked my confidence too. But you've shown you can overcome this, and you can smash the rest of the runs. Go to it girl! Show us what you're made of!

Wow Jundal thanks for the positive words of encouragement. I look forward to proving to myself that I can do this
