I did it!

Well it’s totally unbelievable to me that this programme really works but as I’ve just finished week 9 run 3 I’m quietly chuffed at myself. I’m not a runner , I hadn’t done exercise for 40 years , I really disliked this programme , I didn’t get any joyous feeling before during or after the runs , I have struggled to motivate myself and I’m slow but on the plus side I’m pretty determined and competitive with myself so I didn’t have to repeat any runs . Now I have to keep it up which will be harder without the satisfaction of ticking off the runs accumulator ! Anyway - thanks all for support and encouragement and especially little sis flaraflarkin for making me do it and not letting me give up !!!!

Congratulations. You never know, if you do it long enough you may grow to love it. I’m sure your sister has plans to keep you running. For now, celebrate in style and be very proud.

Sounds like you're joyous now though, and there's the thing - you set your own goals and you celebrate your own milestones. Finishing C25K is a great achievement and whether you enjoyed it or not you should be proud of that. Well done!

If ticking runs off on a progress chart helps you, make a new progress chart :) Well done. In the consolidation phase you don't have to run further every week - after nine weeks of rapid progress the advice is just to maintain it for three weeks (i.e. three 30 minute runs per week or some approximation to that) before you try to progress any further. You may find that as the runs become less uncomfortable (because you're still getting fitter but the runs aren't getting longer any more) you start to enjoy it more: that's what happened for me. But even if not, you can certainly enjoy the feeling of achievement after the run is finished!
