Hi everyone this is my first post. Well yes I did my first run this morning. I am a bit achey in my legs and back this evening, I should have done warm down stretches, I think. I was really nervous but excited to start the programme as I like brisk walking but I have never run and I am several stone overweight. Glad to get the first run under my belt but just hope I can avoid injury being overweight.

Hello Bananar!! Welcome and well done for completing your first run!! That’s brilliant. We are all different shapes and sizes...running!! 😁 Just take it one run at a time and go slow. You’ll hear that a lot on here. You’ve come to the right place for the most amazing encouragement and support! Go you!! ❤️
Well done on getting started. The first week is a bit of a shock to the system😊
You'll be fine just take it slow and steady - it's amazing how you get drawn in to the program - and you will find you can do more than ever thought you could.
Well done... that’s the big one... next runs are the same length, but you’ll already be off the couch. Gently and slowly is the key to avoiding injury, trust me as I didn’t do that and am just recovering!
This plan isn’t aimed at weight loss and in early weeks you probably won’t see any, don’t get down about that if it’s part of your aim. Just complete the runs, later in the plan you’ll meet a point where your body has to turn the fat burning systems up, and then people have lost quite a bit.
Well done! Starting the plan in this weather (assuming it’s warm where you are) isn’t easy. I ached so much in w1 but it does get better and you recover quicker as the weeks tick by. I’m overweight too by about 2 stone (3 if you ask my wii fit) and you just have to take it easy and not push yourself too hard. If you’ve still got the c25k bug by about w3 I highly recommend getting a gait analysis at a running shop and investing in some decent trainers. You’re going to be giving your feet some punishment over the next few weeks so take good care of them. Good luck and keep up the great work!
Hi welcome, I to am overweight about 4 stone, so started slimming world 3 weeks ago, then decided to start the C25K last week. The first run killed me and I hurt. I started week 2 yesterday and my recovery time was quicker. Make sure you don’t rush and do your stretches. I’ve lost 8lb in 3 weeks and hoping the running and change of eating lifestyle will help me lose weight. Good luck.
