Hi All. I’m 61 & haven’t run since schooldays. Over the years, I’ve badly sprained my right ankle numerous times. I also had an arthroscopy on both knees in 2000. I’m about to start Couch to 5k and would really appreciate any hints/tips (eg re warming up or anything else) before I get started. Thanks.
Warm Up Exercises: Hi All. I’m 61 & haven’t run... - Couch to 5K
Warm Up Exercises
If you have a Lidl near you they have some great ankle, knee and back braces at very good prices if you feel previous injuries may flare up.
Whatever you do, don’t attack that first 60 second run... go slow! Find a comfortable pace and don’t look at the stats if you are tracking. This isn’t a race, it’s a fitness programme.
Walking is a pretty good warm up... but it needs to be brisk, and the walks between runs especially so. Stretch after running... an admin will be along shortly with some links, google is also good.
Biggest part of your body now that can help is your mind. Don’t fear what’s to come... relax into the workouts, trust the programme and believe in yourself.
