I ran for five walked for five ran for five walked for five and had to stop. I will continue working on it for sure. I am also on a no carb diet as well. I cannot seem to lose the eight lbs i need to. So.....well....at least i am not smoking anymore.....

Not smoking is good, congrats.

Some carbs help with running and once you’re graduating this you’re capable of using your legs as fat burning machines. The process of turning fat into glucose that your muscles need is a lot longer than the process of turning carbs to glucose. Carbs bridge the gap for you. So as you condition your body, the fat burning process is probably not fast enough just yet to supply glucose to your muscles before your stored glucose (glycogen) runs out, hence the struggle.

In short, you’ll get there soon, just waiting for the body to catch your legs up.

Doesn’t sound like you are far off achieving it. Keep going and you’ll feel great when you have done it 😁

You can do it! If I can haul my fat ass through 28 minutes of leg based punishment then YOU CAN DO THIS!

Agree with unfitnomore on the fat burning. People tend not to lose weight on the plan but they can lose inches. That’s even better! In the struggling with completing the runs in w4 you are probably still going a bit quick. You need to be thinking snail and able to breathe ok. You will be surprised how slow you can go if you really try! Good luck!

On my first run I almost had to check I wasn’t going backwards. Had no idea how fast I could run and complete a minute... I found out on the 6th rep, that one hurt.

You do need fuel for your runs... check out the section on healthy eating in this post from IannodaTruffe

Then... simply slow it right down :)

No carbs...nooooo

Don't we need some carbs for fuel ..could that be contributing?

I'm having a bumpy road thru this too...my advice is just keep plodding...suddenly you will find small improvements..

I watched a telly prog..the Truth about Carbs about a month ago..might still be on BBC iPlayer?..Did you see it? Worth a look..

Some runners fuel just on fats... but in the early days it’s not gonna work that way. Need all the 40 processes to go from fat to glycogen to turn in fast and run efficiently... and that takes time and training.
