Hi

Just joined you guys. In my early 60s and type 2 diabetes for a few years. Needed to start insulin recently and piled on the weight with it even though being really good with my diet. Never tried running before but seems to be helping even at start of week 3.

Hi and welcome. Running is a great motivator for following a good diet. If you've got to week 3 you're obviously committed and you'll get stronger quite quickly. Good luck with the rest of the programme, and happy running!

Nice to have you along for a run. Welcome to the forum. If you eat properly, not skip meals and watch your 'levels' you should do well. Keep your pace steady and slow and make sure you keep smiling.

Keep on posting and enjoy the rest of week 3.

Cheers. Good advice. Need to plan ahead as I work away from home a bit. Created a new record this morning as was away last night but took my gym gear and did my run in the hotel Gym this morning at 7am! Feeling pleased with myself 😀

Hi DrN

I was diagnosed T2 18 months (46yo) ago and immediately embarked on a complete lifestyle change. After ditching the carbs and taking up weights, stage 3 moved on to fitness.

I enrolled on the C25k program and I can say (for me any way), it was the best thing ever.

My last Hba1c was so low they are now considering taking me off the register. My blood pressure has improved such that I am now coming off BP meds. I cannot say your situation will improve to the same level, but what you are doing will have a major, positive impact.

Well done for getting involved with C25k, you won't regret it.

Hi Julian

You replied to me a few weeks ago which helped my motivation. Have just completed week 5 run 3 yesterday and since starting c25k have lost 4kg of the 8kg I put on in a month with the insulin and managed to reduce the insulin by 10 units! Blood sugars are good. Also doing other exercise - aqua aerobics, walking and gym (cycling). Started riding again as well! Maybe I need putting on a register! but am really enjoying it. Hope to get hba1c right down like you

.

fantastic job! I might have left it too late to reverse but hoping I haven’t - will keep you posted. Determined to get off the insulin if I can. I feel better already anyway.

If you haven't already have a look at the Blood Sugar Diet forum. Dr Michael Mosely started it off but it's pretty much like this forum - friendly, helpful, knowledgable and supportive. Lots of people on there, some very longstanding ones, who like Julian1970 ditched the carbs and improved so much don't need insulin any more. Insulin does increase your weight due to the way it works.

Welcome aboard. C25k is a great way to get fit and enjoy yourself.

Thanks Annie

Have seen Dr Moseley work a while back and will revisit it!

Reading Mosley’s book again. All makes sense to me.

Week 3 run 2 completed yesterday. If I can do that I can do this diet! Here goes!
