Yesterday at 7.40am as I was rushing out if the shower/bath I slipped. Yes you heard me, I bloody slipped. I was reaching for the towel which I had forgotten to move closer to the shower. My foot slipped, I had nothing to brace my fall and landed full (18 stones) weight on my chest, hitting the bath s long edge. Basically, winded, in major pain, there was a point I thought that was it, my end was going to be an entry on the Darwin awards.
Mind raising, I was about to call 999 and realised a) I was starkers b) who would open the door. Screaming I put my bits on my bits, struggled breathing downstairs, by this point I was calmer and the feeling of a collapsed rib cage and punctured lung had passed. Instead I rang the go, who said go to A&E. Ten minutes later, I was at the hospital. Three hours later, I had my XRay which was all clear but I was advised I would be in excruciating pain for three days and it could take 3weeks to 3months to heal fully. I've been taking codine and can hardly move since.
So, now, after 6 weeks of determination what can I do? Damnit I was so stupid. I was trying to reach 2 meters across the bathroom. Idiot....oach 😩

Oh Kashy that’s awful, what a shame. You must be in agony - and after all your hard work too. Who knows, maybe you’ll retan some residual fitness while you recover? I’m not sure how bodies work sometimes!
Take a place on the IC and keep us posted with how you’re getting on. 🙁🙁 ❤️
The good news is, you will get out there again.. be patient, but do keep moving..( It will be painful, but it does ease...) I used my cross trainer to keep me supple.. ( I am 68_..was 66 when I did the ribs in)
I have linked my posts at that time to just show you that you will be back.... and they may entertain you whilst you are on that injury couch...The runs will wait, and what you need to do is to stay mobile and try and stay bright..it is hard..but if you pop in here from time to time it will keep you going!!!
Keep breathing and stretching, rodger that. God I'm such a bafoon. Day three and getting up this morning was a nightmare. However, apparently it does get better. I will get over this and I WILL loose 20kg by the end of September.
So, still recovering from my faul. Get around 3 hours sleep a night although getting more comfortable. Not taking codine anymore. My fall has woken me up. I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis 10 years ago and have been taking immunal suppressants daily. It's stopped progression but my fall impacted my liver and fluid built up on my legs and feet. I gained 6kg of the weekend. I ended up in hospital where they ran through a load of tests. My biggest fear was moving on to the next stage of chirrosis which basically means I'm pretty much living on borrowed time. They didn't thank god detect adominal acistus, but gave me diaretics. Within two days my legs went to normal and I am back to normal weight. My criptogenic liver condition which most likely is auto immune, has been ignored by me and lately the NHS. It's time to be realistic. I need to live life, get back running (once my chest heals) and complete couch to 5k. Only issue is I can't over do liquids, can't really have animal protein, need lol sodium diet. Kind of sucky.
Oh what an awful fall! So glad to hear you are a bit better but not about the further complications you’ve experienced since. Take care of yourself and get well soon x
