I've been reading lots of posts so thought I'd introduce myself . I'm Kerry 47 and a newbie to this decided to try and get healthy/fit after seeing a photo at Christmas so I've lost about 3st starting blockfit classes and burlesque chair fitness which I do when I'm not working evenings . I needed something to fit in with busy life so decided on couch to 5k never run jogged since school so I've managed to get to week 3 nut have to say the 3minute runs are scaring the hell out of me and tips will be much appreciated . Breathing is my main problem just can't seem to get it controlled

If your breathing is not controlled..just slow down.. and if you are still having issues, slow down more...simple as that!
Keep posting too for great support and encouragement... this is a great place to be...
Thankyou I'll check it out . I did get worried going upto 90 seconds but I managed it and on my last run could have carried on a little longer . I was due to start week 3 tomorrow but my partner is joining me so decided to do week 1 run with him don't want to scare him off so Tuesday will be my 1st attempt at week 3
Welcome! 😊 good luck!
Every week scared me until about week 6 or 7, when the penny dropped: This programme works and the gradually increasing times, while not easy are absolutely achievable. So don’t be scared; loads of people have been where you are and have become runners, so you can too 😊🏃🏾♀️👍
Thankyou Millie and helen . I think I need to stop trying to plan my route around the park to avoid the hills too as the runs get longer I won't be able to so will make it harder mentally for me
You will have to face hills sometime and doing it now will be easier than later imho
Great advice I had from this forum was if you’re running up a hill & it’s too much just turn around & run back down - brilliant! My park is pretty hilly but I prefer that to just running around the track. Good luck 🙂
I've ran down a few hills but realised I was making it too easy so tried to stick with the flat think I need to push myself more . My daughter joins me every run she has severe anxiety/selective mutism I thought it would be good for her which it seems to be she walks so I do my runs then turn round to join her she has her own little jogs at times I think I embarrassed her the first time jumping about encouraging her ooops
