Yesterday evening I finished my third 28 minute run, week 8 done! I can’t believe how far I’ve made it since the jump in week three when I was terrified of failing at running for 3 minutes.
Excited to complete this coming week and maybe celebrate, then time to make sure I get my distance up for my 5k early August. Any tips?

Take it steady and increase slowly. I started by just upping the mins after graduation and see how that felt. Maybe see how far off you are and devise a time plan that gets you there by your event. If at any increase you feel it is a bit too much then stay at that level. The sheer excitement of the event will help you do it on the day. For a 10km I train to 7km excitement see me through the rest. Good luck.
Thanks! I’ve got a little over a mile to build up and my event is 3 weeks away. I’d like to do it in about 40 mins if possible, but my real objective is just to be able to do it without walking. I haven’t had to stop for walks at all so far so hoping I can get there in time!
You could quite happily add in 3 Min a week for 3runs which should put you at 39 mins and that would get you through for 40min. Just remember to keep your start at your own pace rather than the pace the crowd is going. It is so easy to start off too fast and feel winded, most of all have fun.
You’ve done brilliantly Whiteywifey! I haven’t done any tracking myself, but will start now that I’m going to be doing consolidation runs. Maybe you’re already closer than you think. Have a great W9! The podium awaits! ❤️
