My lovely, cool mesh vest top seems to have a bite - it also acted as a cheese grater on my right nipple last run π³
Antiseptic cream and a plaster donned today.
Being hairy in that area, not looking forward to removing the plaster later π±

Ouch!!! ππ
π¬ crikey, sounds sore.
Sounds very painful - I think vaseline might help. βΊ
Ouch! π³ youβll want to put a cold lettuce leaf on that sucker...or am I confusing that with breastfeeding π€£
made me laugh out loud in the officeβΊ
Ooooouch! Balls Jay! I mean cotton wool ones for the vest next time.
Ouch!! π΅ *Vaseline* ~ word of the week!
Ouch!!!!!!
Ouch!!!
Ouch! Meshing things sadly do like to let in biting things...unless you can get them made out of tiny midge netting! Not sure about the answer to nipple rub. Perhaps Google it? Iβm sure Iβve heard of people taping their nipples to avoid it, but no idea what with. β€οΈβΉοΈ
Tape?
Iβm now imagining you setting off with bits of Duct tape attached to you!! Iβd check what sort of tape if you want to try it...πππ
Actually duct tape is really good for avoiding blisters. Stick a strip on where you are prone to it and it wards them off. (Donβt do this if you are diabetic!)
I was more worried about what was going to happen to your hairy bits when you tried to pull the stuff off!! π³β€οΈ
Hi Jay66UK - I suffered with exactly the same. My nip was itchy at work after a run so I gave it a scratch and bugger me it started to bleed. In my haste to by a plaster I ended up buying corn plasters!! The tape that was recommended is called micropore - but if you are hairy (as I am) I can tell you that running with it on is NOT fun - it sticks really well which means it pulls the hairs with the motion of running. I found cheap plasters were best while still a little raw they sort of float on the hairs and provide a barrier between the nipple and shirt. I sympathize - surprisingly painful.
Cheers, mate. Iβve gone for a small round plaster out of my Tesco value plaster box and, as you say, itβs surfing my nipple hairs.
Iβve got some dressing tape (effectively a roll of plaster with no cotton pad) that I had planned to start using once I was doing longer runs. Didnβt think Iβd need it yet. Bought the antiseptic cream at the same time - lucky Iβm a worrier!
I'd suggest shaving those nips to help with the plaster issue. Given it might look a little odd, just do your entire chest. It'll help with the heat too!
If you do choose this option Jay66UK please shave a face or something more creative (maybe corn circles??π€£) into your chest before ripping the whole lot off! π± Photographic evidence required, needless to say! π¬π¬
It's on!!!!!!!!!
Yup. Pics or it didnβt happen!!!
Yeah. It DIDNT happen!
Just be careful when shaving. You know how when you shave, little bumps in the skin can bleed... at least you wouldnβt have sore nips if you didnβt have any any more π
π³π³ Ouch. Poor you.
You need to protect those nips, obviously. I think there is a challenge in here somewhere... ππ€
I may need to employ someone to guard them for me.
You need ... the nip guard!

Do I detect not only a challenge, but also a shopping excursion he he?
Just making 100% sure youβre a chap ..... !!! π³π
You may find sudocream helps with those chafing issues?
Waiting for a delivery of something to help with this myself, had the same problem on Sunday when I did a longer run, been using lip balm with aloe Vera since (in the absence if vaseline)
Poor you. I know you love your new vest but try bamboo tops they may be more gentle? Someone on here recommend a couple of weeks ago and Iβve bought a couple and love them. Wearing them just as normal not running tops as Iβm not active but they keep you cool too. Bamboo clothing.co.uk (free returns tooπ€) May be a bit more gentle on the chaffey bits? More shopping I know, but youβre up to it x
Oucheow!
No one tells you about that kind of thing in advance!!! Oh dear.
Ouchie!!!! π
Be very careful when removing the plaster, perhaps vaseline might have been better, hopefully, it will heal quickly.
I ran for 20 minutes this morning but because it was not too hot, the temperature was around 16C I decided to continue my run/walking session. After a 10 minute walk I continued to walk/run for a further hour and 3 minutes, all off road and through parkland, overall my app told me that I had completed 10K in 1:33:11 seconds at an average pace of 09:17/km, the fasted pace was 06.23 between the 5th and 6th kilometre, the slowest when walking was 11.03 between the 4th and 5th kilometre. Later this week I hope to run a full 5k in around 37 minutes based on this morning times.
Thatβs quite a run!
Nearly spluttered coffee all over myself laughing out loud like an idiot all by myself.....lol!!! Sounds painful but check out NipEase - sounds like the perfect solution for you!!!
Oooch Jay, not sure whether you have nipple rash from the mesh of your new top or an insect got you through it from the replies. If it is the texture of the top you may have to line it with another fabric at that area otherwise it will keep doing it. Plaster on hairy chest does not sound good. You donβt seem to have had this problem before so it might be worth a letter to the manufacturer.
You could wear a trainer bra! One without annoying removable padding of course! It gets twisted in the wash and takes forever to straighten out.... more shopping Jay!
Another entertaining read Jay, thanks for that πππ Hope your nip gets better quickly.
Funnily enough I was jogging along on my 10k this week (thought Iβd just mention that again π) and was wondering at what sort of distance chafing starts to become an issue. Had previously heard of all sorts of horror stories (usually involving plasters and Vaseline) re nipples and various parts of the βshorts areaβ.
So far however, Iβm very happy to report, Iβve been entirely βchafe-freeβ π
So happy I donβt have hairy nipples - #gladto befemale
Oh no, is that the condition called joggers nipple? Or is it actually mastitis? π
Sorry, couldnβt resist!
According to google though, nipple shields are a thing: chelstondirect.com/nipeaze-...
Great post, not that I wish you or your man nipples and pain or discomfort of course.
I was only thinking during my run last night, whilst sweating buckets, that I needed to invest in a nice cool mesh running top like Jays.
Think you might have scared me and my nipples away from that idea.
Only just catching up with these posts..... it could only happen to you, Jay!!! π
Sorry for your pain Jay but this post has made me chuckle π ππ
Iβve just had a thought Jay, you said earlier that this vest is a size smaller and I wonder if that has increased the friction for you?
Ouch! Sudocreme is very good. Oh bless you Jay - you really do go through it & yet you keep on running- a true inspiration. Sending virtual hugs.
πππ speechless
it really does seem odd that they just make these tops which seem likely to cause this! What a literal pain. I hope it feels better soon - chafing anywhere is no fun but let's face it that's particularly sensitive.
Glad you posted though, people should talk about these issues as you can't be the only one! Also, ahem, good to get it off your chest <runs away>
Ha!
The most frustrating thing is I had bought some antiseptic cream and a roll of tape bandage preempting possible need as I face up to trying for 10k.
So I had the stuff to treat it and it feels like Iβve kind of jinxed myself.
How are your calfs now Jay? Have you been for a run since you rolled them?
Still do your stretches post run, and roll away from the knees.πx
If all else fails, just go topless ππ
The world does not deserve that sight. The old saying βyou get more in a barrel than in a six packβ doesnβt mean barrels are nicer to look at!
I have this problem. I was running in cotton vests and in the changeing room I noticed there was blood on my towel. Initially I thought I had probably scratched myself then I saw myself in the mirror. Two bloody spots where the blood had been diluted by sweat and leeched out! I then bought some running tops, Higher State, Β£4.99 from sports shoes, light non-rubbing, seems to have done the trick. Get a little mild irritation but that is probably hardening them up a bit and hopefully once my moobs shrink it will be less of a problem!
