I'm so disappointed. Was on week 7 and had not missed one run. I was going great guns. Then I got a bad pain in my ankle. Physio says it is peroneal tendinitis. Possibly running shoes were not perfect and quite likely my 'style' was less than perfect too. Well my new style is limp limp limp. It has been 5 days now and suspect could be a fair few more until I am close to pain free and then some more before I can run again. I cant wait to get back to it and hope i don't have to go right back to the beginning. First job when i can run is to go to have gait analysis done and choose new trainers. My advice to all is get your trainers right before you get this annoying issue.
Injured and gutted: I'm so disappointed. Was on... - Couch to 5K
Injured and gutted
Sorry about the injury😞. I couldn't agree more, if I had had the right trainers from the outset, I would not be gently easing back into running now, at the slow pace of 3 runs then add on 2-3 minutes and repeat.....
At this rate it will be around September before I do 30 minutes again, but hopefully it will be cooler then too🤩
Hi Jell6
If I had ever in my wildest dreams thought i would stick with the running i would have treated myself to good trainers at the beginning but who knew I would get this far. Not like me at all. Lesson learned and so hope to get back to it soon. You have done it once and you will do it again. Good luck and good trainers to you.
Sorry to hear this. Take your time and recover properly. Running will still be here and coping with a gap, though horrible, is good experience once you are through it. Bounce back when you are ready.
That's a real shame, remember you shouldn't start to lose any aerobic fitness for at least 2 weeks anyway, so take your time and make sure your are right before you start again.
Well at least you stopped and got help, that's the best course of action. There are idiots like me who are on another level. I busted my knee because of the shoes I wore, might as well wore sandals, there wouldn't be much difference. After it got fixed did I change the shoes through gait analysis? Of course not, I simply ploughed on through discomfort and on my graduation day my ankle ballooned and fell apart, like my mind at the time. Let's just say that I lost many months because of those two, easily preventable injuries. As for the cost, MasterCard looked after that aspect.
In terms of repeating the program do what you need to do but I repeated C25K, Bridge to 10 and now half marathon, and why not, no rush in what we do here.
Good luck!
