Left at 6.30am. Felt cool. First 20 mins were fine, comfortable slow and steady pace. Mostly in the shade. Then at 22 mins my legs suddenly turned to jelly and I went light headed and had zero energy. Paused the run for 2 mins , stopped completely, then carried on, slower than ever. Guess I was dehydrated. First time I've felt like that. Need to drink even more in this heat!
I have ordered shorts......! I don't wear short shorts. Ever. But in this heat.....! ππππ

Don't like hats! Usually run late evening so don't need one. A lucky hat!! Brilliant! Now I definitely want one!
Oh dear, I hope you're ok. Maybe have a banana before your next one and see if that helps too! Along with more water of course. Take care of yourself π
Oh dear - dehydration is a killer. Weβre not used to such heat & I donβt know about you, but Iβm sweating loads even without running! Definitely think shorts are the way forward although Iβm rather worried that I might scare the wildlifeπΉ. Hope the next run goes well π
Even a the 6.30 it's way tooo hot for me anyway. Not been out at all this week and am resigned to going back to week 5 when the heat stops!!! Had headaches all week. So, be careful Mrs.... make sure you keep drinking and you know the rest. Also need shorts, but my legs are not fit for human or wildlife consumption. π
Mine neither and they don't match my arms and face. Once you get used to it, it is such a relief to have air moving round max skin surface in this heat!
My legs will scare all local wildlife but I'm not running in lycra until it is at least 10 degrees cooler! It was so hot so early today. Just don't like it !! π
Neither do I! 20 years ago I would have sat out in it all day. Managed 45 mins at school fayre today before dragging child home. Iβve become such a whinged!!! Xx
Well done for getting out there Ang33333. I missed out on my Thursday run because I knew I wasnβt hydrated enough after a boozy Wednesday. Yesterday I mustβve drank gallons of water in preparation of Parkrun today. Iβm wearing a hat too - that sun is so strong. Good luck with the next one.
Needs must sometimes Ang. Iβm in Capri pants now which took some nerve initially but Iβm pleased to report that after just 3 runs in them my calves arenβt quite as blue as they were! π You wonβt regret the move to shorts. Sorry it wasnβt the best run, the heat is so debilitating. I was out at 6:45 and even then it was hot! Good luck with the next run and be careful out there! ππ
Iβve invested in shorts too π Also Iβve bought sone effervescent sports drink tablets called High 5 Zero. Zero calories but I sweat so much I need salts replacing. I was starting to feel awful after runs. I think they help. Maybe theyβd help you recover quicker too ππ½
I tried them too, found they helped. I get sunstroke so easily, being a ginge ( well not now Iβm a silver surfer but I still have the pale skin and tendency to burn and freckle). I thought my arms were brown the other day then realised my freckles had joined up.
My legs have been out a lot this year but they have just gone from pale blue to off white with freckles.
I'll get some and try them. I just felt drained today. Zero energy. I haven't felt like that before. It was hotter than any previous run.... I must drink more too! Thank you !ππ
Hi there, just to say, please do get those sports drink tablets-High 5 Zero. Me and hubby always use them, we take a bottle of water, with one and a half tablets dissolved in and a little dilute juice to taste and they make all the difference. They contain salts and other things you sweat out, and are no calories. We get ours from Holland & Barrett. You can always drink it before you set out if you don't want to take with you. I hate the heat, but I think drinking properly makes all the difference. Take care x
I do drink a lot but in this heat I will drink even more! Trouble is I have to go to the loo so often! But I don't want to feel like that again π°π°
Hi Ang33333, I am glad you arrived back safely. Must have been an awful feeling. My pre 6am runs have been cool and I confess I have continued to wear my old gardening shorts. I really don' think I want to run in anything approaching heat. I have noticed that I am finding it easier to consume water at a rate. Hope you enjoy the shorts!
