I'm now "running" for 30 mins and have managed this a week early (wk8) but I'm nowhere near 5k.
I know I've still managed a huge thing, as a short (small legs) & very overweight person, it's a massive thing to run for 30 mins, but there is no way I could achieve 5k in 30 mins.

After run 1 I knew there was no way I could run 30 minutes.
This programme is about becoming a runner and getting fitter and healthier. You’ve done a great job... and now you are a runner. You can pretty much do anything you want now... so with work and a good plan you probably can run 5k in 30 minutes... it just takes time.
I graduated some months ago, but I still don't achieve 5k in 30 minutes. After my graduate runs in week 9 there were some up and downs. Once I did 35 minutes, but a lot more times I did again only 25 or 20 minutes after I had been on holidays or had been ill. Now - when I'm running 30 minutes - I only achieve 4,6 kilometers. I'm quite tall and have long legs ... but I think it will need a lot more time for me to achieve the 5 kilometers in 30 minutes. Three months ago I only achieved 4,2 kilometers ... so I think it will be spring when I run 5k!!
Some people (good runners) always tell me that I should do more sports for gaining stamina or longer runs to be faster ... but I feel that I'm not ready to do longer runs and there's also a lack of time.
So be happy that you manage to run 30 minutes (as I do), that's brilliant!
Well done. You've done amazingly to get to W8, so focus on completing the programme and don't worry about the distance.
It's a misnomer, the programme is about reaching the 30mins NOT the 5k.
Keep it up 😄

I have been running for 18 months or so now and I don't think I will ever run 5k in sub 30 minutes. I'm not really bothered as I can run a long way (well for me). Try not to worry and just carry on strutting your stuff
Well done on the running, but do not rush it. I know I will not make It either, at least not by the end of week nine (I have just completed week eight) but that will come sometime later with the subsequent consolidation runs.
Well done and keep going- you've achieved so much already. I didn't manage 5K in 30 minutes either but managed it in just under 34, that was in week 11-
30 mins is still my goal so will keep trying. Stay with it 🏃🏼♀️
Same here. Takes me about 37 mins. I ran 30 mins three times a week for a month or two after graduating then measured out a 5k run that I now do instead.
