Well it's too hot for me. I burn easily and today I couldn't breathe as it's more humid. I was a sweaty mess in 5 mins. It was not fun. I was out by 6.30am. Had to run up and down one piece of track in the shade. I am starting to see why some people like treadmills. If I didn't completely hate gyms I might be tempted!! πππππππ π π
You might not agree, but - it's too hot!!!! π... - Couch to 5K
You might not agree, but - it's too hot!!!! πππππ
I agree!! I was out at 6:30 too and there was a lot of heat in the sun even that early! Tried to stick to the shady side of the road, but there was no air at all. Felt sluggish and my time was sloooow. But we did it!! A slow, sweaty run is better than none at all! π
I share your hate of gyms. But even Iβm tempted. Well run.
It wasn't that well run!! So slow!! Why do we do it to ourselves??π€£π€£
Addiction. Peer pressure. Lack of someone to do it for us. π€£π€£π€£
Itβs just not a normal British summer, though is it? Iβve run every other day since the beginning of April and only run twice in the rain!!! And I live near Manchester.... βοΈ π€
Likewise, a fair bit south of Manchester but noticeably dry. We are going to freeze our bits off come autumn!
Am completely in agreement Ang. Have made it out once this week...and it was too hot at 6.30am. Said to a friend yesterday that I might have to do it all again in September!! Am waiting until 8 this eve to see what itβs like tonight. Iβm such a wuss. π
I know what you mean Ang. Unfortunately need to get out super early to get a run in at the mo. There were rain/storms forecast for today but nothing so far. Just icky sticky heat - ughh!
I'm getting up at 5.30 on Tuesday!!
My aim is 5 tomorrow...π
Well done!! I've got my grandkids all day! More tiring than any run!
So true! I look after our grandkids on Mondays too and when Iβm bonkers enough to get up super early for a run on those days, Iβm soooo tired later in the day!! But tired in a good way.
Keeps you fit enough to run after them too....
Hi, youβre right, weβre all feeling the heat - and humidity- I think. π Weβre not used to extended periods of such weather ππ€―
Donβt worry about any targets for the time being, just get out there and run when you can. Keep hydrated too, thatβs the most important thing in these conditions π³ππ
I feel you! Even growing up in Arizona, I hate the heat and donβt function well at all with it. I intentionally got up and out the door at 8am this morning before it got too bad- and it was still hot! Good job getting it done!
I like winter holidays in the snow! I do like the sun but not heat. I wilt like my garden !
I am totally feeling the same. Feverishly checking weather conditions to see when it is coolest. Weβre not as bad as the rest of the country down here as the sea keeps temperatures from soaring too high - but it still doesnβt get cooler than 17 at night...given that my ideal would be 12 iβve got no chance so itβs been dawn for me the last few times! π±...is sleep running a thing?
Itβs far too hot! One benefit of being on IC is that I donβt even have to try & run in this heat. Well done you for getting out & giving it a go. ππ
I totally agree especially now itβs humid too π the car thermometer says 34 degrees! Well done for keeping going!
I literally looked like a lobster after my run yesterday evening. Weirdly I felt fine but my husband took one look at me and said OMG are you ok? ππ€π€π€ I have a treadmill and am seriously tempted but very worried I would just have to stop from boredom. Once I started running outside I haven't once run on it!
First time ever I have cut my run short today - even going beyond slow - I was melting! 4K only and such a slow time!
9am and 22 degrees in the shade - and there was precious little of that!
I think I got dehydrated - could have cried with the cramp in both calves.
Came back in to the house and the other half took one look at me and had to go in to assistance mode with massage etc - plenty of ibuprofen later - I just feel a bit bruised - really was not fun!
Not sure what the answer is as I just canβt get out at 5am in the week due to long day shifts and am then too lazy to get up that early weekends.
So much respect for all you early birdsππππ
Im a fellow evening runner...and i dont like running after dinner, which means at the moment some hot teatime runs. So I'll just have to get used to it I guess. People run in hot countries all the time!
I think if I had a treadmill here I would use it! Though I agree it is so boring. But cooler!
It is too hot Ang, youβre right! I canβt wait for slightly cooler weather to return. I just wouldnβt even contemplate running in the evening at the moment, itβs stays so hot for so long. Iβve never been to a gym and Iβve never run on a treadmill and I canβt see myself starting now. Iβll think Iβll just have to do a rain dance instead and hope for a change in conditionsπ€ βοΈ π§ π
