I'm planning to run a local 5k tomorrow and it will also be my graduation run. Does anyone have any advice on dos and donts?
Thanks π

Run at your normal pace. Especially at the start. It's easy to get carried along with the crowd, many of whom have to slow down later.
Yeah have fun ππββοΈπ Parkrun is fab Have a drink after, and maybe a lump of celebratory cake π°βοΈπ₯
Itβs going to be scorching so take a bottle of water to which you could add a little sea salt and a maybe just a little juice. A hat would be a good plan too. I wear a towelling wrist band and fold a big cotton hankie under it to wipe my face and blow me snoz. My nose ran like a tap the other night, for some reason π
Take your time. Itβs about finishing
Oh, and donβt forget to take your bar code!!!
Just keep to your usual routine, hydration and pace are the important ones. I use Strava to hold my pace and when I want to walk, I just run slower. I kept overtaking people at my snail pace, who were having to walk, two of them twice!
I had a lovely lady ahead of me in orange with pink headphones and I used her as my pace setter and that worked well for me. Enjoy yourself, the hard part is turning up!
Run across the finish line with your arms waving wildly in the air, screaming at the top of your voice I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! Then broaden your smile to the most insanely cheesy grin you can muster, all while feeling just a little bit smug.
Or in other words . . . . ENJOY IT!
Do remember that it is your graduation run after at least 9 weeks and 27 runs of hard work. You are likely to feel a bit pleased with yourself and be on a massive high into the middle of next week. Have a hankie or tissues somewhere in case you need them!
Enjoy have fun and remember to hydrate. Take a cap, water and sun screen and enjoy your graduation π¨βπ run π π
Just warm up well, then do your run for 30 minutes and enjoy... keep it slow and steady and don't get carried away
Warm up... and then just run for your 30 minutes...
