Parkrun - Take Two and Action.

Hiya, have been a bit quiet the last week, most unusual for me but since my “scenic route” park run last Saturday, not connected I’m sure, my back has been very sore, so lots of Pilates type exercises and a wheat pack, had eased it, felt confident enough to do a test run on Thursday, a very slow 4km but OK. Reading what pain people have gone through and go through on this forum is very humbling, so my sore back is insignificant, so enough said.

Got a sports shop voucher as a belated birthday present from “ back in my good books daughter” so decided to treat myself to a buff, as I really wanted to do the parkrun again, but running in the freezing cold last week made my chest sore. Well who’d have thought there were so many ways of using a small lycra tube? I really fancied the balaclava look, but in the end decided against it as I looked as stylish and speedy as Kung Fu Panda and not the “NinjaNan” look I was hoping to achieve so opted for the casual neck scarf. This morning was beautiful, cold but not icy. Lined up with two newbies and heard a voice say remember slow and steady, Old Floss see you do come out with us on our runs, I turned round, not a figment of my imagination it was actually a real person, your twin, advising the newbies.

Started my trusty ipod nano, (just find it more accurate than Strava or Runkeeper as it doesn’t need GPS) I ran, loved every single minute of it, more especially when I saw the road cone pronouncing half way! You weren’t there last week buddy! My i pod said 5.67km 40.58minutes and pace 7.14 km, official time was mucked up but I don’t care, its not about time or distance, so why do I still mention it?. I’m so happy, I love that at 65 I can run, thanks to c25, but the admins who volunteer their time and listen to our tales of woe, (like they haven’t heard it a million times before but still support you (and Bluebirdrunner the bathroom gets better, thank you for remembering and caring).

A new day in the UK, awaiting you, keep cool, wherever you are on your c25 journey, graduate etc or out on a park run, or all of those things, happy running. Another DOH! moment for me, note to self don’t get dressed in the dark, discovered my tee shirt was on inside out. 😂😂

PS Jay66 love the new gear

Lovely!! You've come back to us in style. And in the buff. Whatever that may be :-) xx

I ran naked at parkrun last week, in the buff this week but different connotations to ye old days, just as well really, don’t want to scare the horses, or small children, hobbits, Dee’s Birkenstock Ninja or even the dogs on park run today so many posh ones spoodles, labradoodles, rescue greyhounds wearing oilskins and even an Australian Cattle Dog, common but not as common as those on Love Island. James Bond ran again today, thought it was a p—s take but no he’s real and he got his 100th park run certificate. Two down 98 to go. ✌🏻

Well run and thanks re the gear.

Tshirts inside out are a statement about something I’m sure. 😉

They probably thought I was one of those posh people who wears designer labels on the outside. Unless they got close and saw XL, upside down ha ha,

Well done lovely lady. I have a buff but am yet to wear it... no need for it for a while yet and I too am baffled by the styling choices. 💂‍♀️🧕👳‍♂️

Sounds like your back pain has resolved? It obviously didn't hold you back. Awesome run, distance and time! You are an amazing woman. Hero xx

Aw too kind. I’m never going to be fast or styley but I’m so having fun. Would have loved the balaclava but it steamed the glasses up. Next Saturday is the fifth anniversary of the local park run, we have to dress Fluoro, thought I’d look good as a minion. Need to take a photo of that.😜

There's been talks of soaking buffs in water here as it's too hot! Glad you had a good run Lexi x

Great parkrun time lexi, and if that was slow and steady! 💪😊

Sorry to hear your back us troubling you a little, pilates is good I believe...

Funny that you have bought a buff to keep your neck and face warm (its breathable so you can pull it over your mouth and nose during the warm up walk)... and we are soaking ours in cold water to keep cool!😄

Happy running and take care of that back😊xx
