I made it through to week 7 fairly unscathed a few weeks ago. However, since then I've been struggling with hay fever and a dodgy hip. I've yet to run 25 minutes for 3 runs on the trot and am often only running 1-2 times per week and then needing to let my hip recover. There have been times when it got me down that I seemed to be going backwards and then I remind myself that I am almost 48 years old, around a stone and half overweight, I have never run before, I'm from the generation when having asthma at school meant that I was excluded from anything running related and 3 months ago I thought that I was going to die after just 1 minute. If it takes me til Christmas to graduate it really doesn't matter because at least once per week I am up before 6am and running, sometimes for 15 minutes and sometimes for 25 - that can only be good.
Something that has really helped me keep pushing on is all you lovely and inspiring people in this forum - thank you!

Oh Maxilib - Hay fever/asthma at this time of year and you're doing a predominantly aerobic exercise -and with a bad hip too? Respect! You're attitude is brilliant. If you still find that hip a bother, perhaps get everything checked out - your gait, shoes, speak with the GP or a physio, unless you already know what's going on and this is all part of the recovery? I plan to take extra repair days too (in week 7 myself).
Ah thank you Equi-geek that means alot. I will see how it goes and get it looked at if necessary. Ive also downloaded a hip flexor stretching program to see if that helps. The good news is that yesterday's run doesnt seem to have aggravated it. We will get to graduation when we get there - we can do this! 😀
This post has really inspired me because I have CFS/ME - a condition where fatigue can be exacerbated by exercise if you over do it too regularly and so I already know my route to graduation - if I make it that far - won’t be a simple 9 week process. I too am only aiming to run twice a week and from the outset I intend to conplete each week at least twice if not more so my body gets gradually used to the exercise. Sometimes I think ‘oh it’ll take me so long to complete c25k why am I even bothering’? But this post reminded me that lots of people will have challenges when trying to complete this and it’s about what is progress for you. The fact that I have run 8 minutes during my usual 30 minute daily walk twice now is something I am actually very proud of. Thanks for the reminder and good luck with your journey. Keep going!!
It shows that you have an incredible mindset to set out to achieve c25k catmama! I have a friend with cfs and i see what even a short walk can do to her. That balance between progression without overexertion is a delicate one and a learning curve and it sounds like you are doing brilliantly! We can do this 😃
