Hi there everyone..... starting the couch to 5k was my new years resolution.... so it's taken half the year to build myself up and get motivated to start. I have been reading all the posts on here since January and have now completed week 1 run 1. I wanted run outside but struggle with the impact on the hard ground and as I am struggling with tenderness in both Achilles and didn't want put it off any linger, I have started the program in a gym, on the treadmill. I know it's easier on the treadmill than outdoors... but whilst I'm motivated, I thought I would do the program on treadmill and then move to the outdoors when my Achilles are feeling stronger.
My first run made me feel great, think I'm fitter than I give myself credit for, but hinder with the Achilles problem - any tips most welcome.
During my first run... I hadn't realised the treadmill was at for 20 mins on countdown, so it cut off and I had to try morn in the spot until I could get going again... lol. Then I caught my earphone cable with my hand whilst running and my phone fell on the treadmill only to roll off the end.... at which point Laura stopped talking to me. I carried on running and got my phone back on with Laura and eventually finished off my dun
Eventful.. But completed and feel good for starting... start 2nd run on Tuesday and can't wait. I will be more organised haha. Just hope my Achilles hold out.
Thanks for all the motivation to get me started.... feeling good

Well done for starting. Can’t offer advice about the Achilles I’m afraid. It may be worth investing in some cheap Bluetooth headphones. Enjoy the next run!
We’re all different- but I tore my Achilles on a treadmill and find it more painful to run on a treadmill now than to run outside- I’m told that the varied terrain- grass, tracks, a bit of tarmac etc help to strengthen my ankles., but I did wear heel inserts & a foot support for a while, as I know how painful & debilitating (& frustrating) a torn Achilles can be! Listen to your body - Achilles take flipping ages to get back into any sort of shape.
Whichever way you go, do it & enjoy it. I never thought I could - but I did! The app is fab & the support here unbelievable! Good luck 😉
