W6R3 tomorrow

First post!!

Having been plodding along happily making progress I seemed to hit a wall with week 6. I did the first two runs and struggled (turned out I had an ear infection so I kind of get it wouldn’t feel good). I thought rather than go for the 25 minutes I would redo runs 1&2. They went ok this time so now it’s all systems go for the 25 minutes. HOWEVER my brain is not feeling positive. I know it’s only 5 more minutes (or a couple of cheesy pop songs), I know that the pain in my legs isn’t anything to worry about and I know that I’m not puffing and panting so I should know I can do it. I guess I need to suck it up but it would be great if anyone has any top tips for winning the mind battle?

The only advice i can give is, just enjoy it 😊

I felt the same last week, but now having done 3 of the 25 minute runs - 4th and last tomorrow - i can honestly say, i actually look forward to it and 100% enjoy it. Youll find your pace and stick to it easier than all the stopping and starting. Ditto breathing. The “toxic 10” has become the “toxic 2” for me, by the end of the first song im totally into it!

Just relax and enjoy! IMO, the worst bit is done. Good luck 👊🏻😊

Take the start slow. Recognise that your head will try to stop you running. Resolve to keep going whilst your limbs are intact.

It is a mind battle and you need to win it, for the sake of the running and everything else.

Think about that posting you would have to make here saying you hadn’t done the whole run (we don’t use the F word). Much easier to run on a bit.

Try to enjoy it - it’s another landmark run that you will never do again for the first time. Good luck!

So I won the mind battle! It was dodgy at about 8 minutes and a little panicky at 12.5 but joy at 20 minutes and an almost overwhelming sense of accomplishment at 25. Can’t say I got a good rhythm going until 20 minutes, I guess that was the mind games as I knew that every second passed the 20 minutes was uncharted territory. I think I even sped up for the last minute.

I’m now sat at home aching but blimey I’m happy.

On to the next week!

Good luck for tomorrow. The advice from Jay66UK about starting slowly worked for me. The feeling at the end was genuinely great 😀
