W6R3!!!

So I’ve the 25 minute run tonight and I’m curious to know what distance people covered in this time? I know it’s about finishing the runs and not how far you get so this is purely curiosity! 6 weeks ago I could barely run a bath so I’m really pleased with my progress and looking forward to continuing!

As it was the first 25 minute run, I deliberately slowed it down and I covered just over 2 miles... I used week 7 to allow the strength to build and my distance up a little. The actual number is as you say not the aim, and I wouldn’t worry about anyone’s distance other than your own, and I wouldn’t recommend that tonight’s run is the one that should be measured... that’s more for W7R3 if any.

Have a great run.

I understand and thanks for the reply! Everyone’s experience is different isn’t it and whilst I do like looking at the stats after each run, I’ve so far stuck to the mindset that the distance doesn’t matter yet...the end goal will come when it comes!

Perfect. I had to look up that run as I tracked all of the running only sessions but didn’t really look at the stats. What has interested me more is, without exerting extra effort, my average pace month on month has steadily climbed, which indicates that my fitness is rising as most runs have been at conversational pace.

Yes I’ve also noticed the pace difference. This is why I like looking at the stats but as I’ve said I’m not focused on them...it’s more enjoyment to see what I can achieve! I’ve done tonight’s run and covered 4K total with 3k continuous run so feeling extremely proud of myself!

I covered a mile and a half (2.4k) - but I wasn’t in a hurry and I have dinky little legs 😄

2.6 but that included the warm up walk not the cool down

Shelley2310 profile image

That’s 2.6km not miles 😂

Either is impressive to me: I’m including warm up and cool down. With my level of co-ordination I’d only drop the phone if I tried to switch anything part way through 😄

I think we’d best leave her out of this 😁

2.5 miles in 25 mins ! Which is fast for me !

Wow amazing! I’m not overly focused on the distance at the minute, more so completing the run without stopping but the competitiveness in me wants to get as far as I can haha!

Snap! 2.565 miles in 25 on 7:3 😉(on a track, so unusually fast for me)

But really just try and enjoy it . It is keeping going rather than distance or speed .It has taken me nearly 3 months since graduating and restarting at W6 to get to anything like 5k in 30mins . Good luck.

I’m thinking I may well keep playing it for years after graduating ! I chose Sanjeev myself, because I wanted someone who would be friendly and not scarily sporty: seems to be working 😄

Yep I agree! I’m enjoying it so far but just that slight competitiveness in me wants to get as far as I can haha! Luckily I don’t get disheartened if a run isn’t as far/fast as the last etc. I’m just really pleased to be doing it as I couldn’t run at all!

Completed my first session today, I has mapmyrun on in the background as well to track distance. From first session I covered 2.5 miles including the warm up and cool down. But just glad I didn't stop during any of the run 60 seconds!

When I started at the beginning of last September I literally couldn’t jog for 20 seconds, and I’ve just come in from a 25 minute jog, so something is definitely working ! I’m still massively slower than most people, but I’m faster than I’ve ever been, and that’s what matters. Slow and steady is definitely the way !

Buttercup21 profile image

That's brilliant, it's about challenging yourself not comparing yourself to others. The fact you keep going and keep improving is key. Definitely slow and steady is the way to do it.

Absolutely ! Go Team Buttercup lol !

Do you want to know the distance covered by a twenty year old male or an 83 year old woman?

What will you learn unless you know everything about every respondent?
