I feel like I have lost my motivation for getting out there since graduating. Before I had a goal and got there now it's almost like what am I running for.
I have continued to run and today did 4 min warm up, 25 min run (faster than normal) and then a 5 min cool down, did just over 3.2 Miles which am chuffed with, then did 5 mins on the bike (I hate bikes).
Think I need a running partner now. Anyone in the far North East of Scotland????
Don't want to do the 10k as may be a run too far 🤣🤣

Finding myself using the treadmill more often as less pain in the days after and I find it easier. Maybe 7.5k would be attainable using the 10% method. Might five that a go thank you 😁
Have you got a Park Run near you? I find them really motivating - and fun! I am thinking of joining a local "improvers" running group too - found it by googling.
Yes have a look what's on offer. I do most of my running on my own but I do find it much more fun running with others at the Park Run. I haven't gone any further than 5k since I graduated (about a month ago I think - lost track of time!) but I'm hoping to get a bit of a push up the derriere from joining a group! Keep us posted how you get on!
Maybe try a Parkrun, up in your area they are at Kirkwall, Thirsk, Alness & Inverness..
It's hard to motivate sometimes, but think how you feel after a run when you've recovered, good, yes! (After a run on Monday that's how I felt anyway) and it's doing you the world of good, regular running helping to keep any excess weight off and fitness & feel good factor..are you running with music? My wife likes the music while on a run, helps divert the mind away from negative thoughts..
OH no loobylou! You sound a little in the doldrums! Maybe it's a phase?
I'm sure you've thought of all of these suggestions already....(here goes anyway, I apologise now I don't want to appear sanctimonious or anything similar)....
Suggestion 1. Join a running group. There's a facility on this web site somewhere, you put in your post code and you get matched up with others, ask at your closest running shop about a running group or get googling.
#2. Add variety, new routes, add hill training, change the length of your runs so that run 1 of the week is a 'fast as you can 3k', run 2 is 4 k with hills and run 3 is a 5k. Running 5ks 3 times a week on the same route could get tedious.
#3 'follow' more people on here. Maybe aim for others that have recently graduated too, then they are posting things that may be more relevant to you. Jay66uk writes nice posts.
Well, those are my ideas. I hope that it helps. Again I apologise, I'm not trying to teach someone to suck eggs - or whatever that phrase is. I hit a low in weeks 7 8 & 9 and some of this stuff worked for me,
Hiya. Thanks for the ideas they are good. I do enjoy the running but it's the getting out there. Maybe new routes are the answer will have to get the map out 🤣🤣🤣
Know what you mean Looby, that was one of the reasons I went straight into the 10k programme, to provide that extra structure. I’d been religiously running alternate days on C25k, but that lapsed a bit after I graduated. So easy to find an excuse not to get out!
Hoping the 10k programme will keep me on the straight and narrow, up until I do my 10k race in September, then after that will need to set another goal or two.
Sounds like a running group might be the best idea for you...?
I’ve discovered that I need a goal to aim for and i’m trying to decide what that might be at the moment! Maybe think of the health/fitness benefits you’ve experienced so far to spur you in consolidation - and then maybe aim for 5k as an interim goal?
