Week 5 run 2 completed - apprehensive for run 3

Hi , so I am 52yrs young and have been losing weight steadily over the last 19 months. Ive lost 4.5 stone with only another 7lbs to go to reach my personal target. so I've started Couch to 5K and so far am surprising myself. I have never run (or really wanted to before) but am on week 5 and just completed 2nd run. I was soooo pleased with myself for running 2 x 8 mins during this section!! Never thought I would be able to do that at all, however I am worried about the 3rd run in this section. I had a quick look yesterday and it says 5 min warm up then run 20mins then 5 min cool down. Now is it just me or do you think this is a huge jump up from 8mins??? I am really doubting myself as to whether I will complete this one.

You said it yourself......you ran 2x8 minutes, plus a 5 minute brisk walk.....total 21 minutes.

You have done the duration + already.......relax, go slow and enjoy the victory.

Thank you I will let you know how I get on. Will be giving it my best shot this evening. Think just seeing run for 20 mins makes me panic. I couldn't even run for 2 minutes before I started this!!

Yes, yes, yes, completed!! So happy and proud of myself. I did doubt myself as this little voice in my head kept telling me I would never do it . I did take it slowly as I have done since starting this (3.5mph) but think this is something I can work on once I have built up the confidence that I can actually do this. Thanks for your support

I’m sure we can do it. Every week has been easier than the first one. I think it will be tough but amazing. Good luck...

Yay, well done. Was it crippling or easy, or somewhere in between?

First 5 mins I just kept thinking I will never do this for 20 mins. Just kept a slow steady pace then 10 mins gone. Legs aching now but just got to keep going, 15 mins, 20 mins yay!! I won't say it was easy but still can't believe I did it. Week 6 starts today . Are you also doing Couch to 5K?

Yes and I'm just behind you. I did W5R3 this evening once everything had cooled down. I'm amazed. I just went and did it! Yay 😁

Well done YAY!!! How did you find it?

W5R3 easier than I thought, W6R1 harder than I thought. I think the key here is the thoughts.

Yeah I must admit I thought the same! The 2 x 10 mins run was a killer so how did I manage the 20 minutes a couple of days before? Anyway its the 25 mins W6R3 for me later today and not looking forward to it one little bit.
