Loving this running malarkey

No pain no gain they say!!

So I’m just a man. No proper gear. But fairly head strong when I need to be.

My wife says I have an addictive personality, I’d have to agree. I’m nearing 30 now so hoping to have the right addictions.

I decided my jeans were getting tight and I saw to many people running and wondered what it’s all

About.

Who’s with me?

There’s nothing wrong that compels me to exercise more than when seeing people older and healthier than me (or more un fit) out for a run.

So I thought I’d take up the challenge. Whose with me on this?! You brave souls.

I may keep you posted on my 4:40 wake up call ( sounds like hell I know!!)

I’d love to be a huge part of this community.

Thanks everyone

I'm twice your age and starting week 6 on Monday. Go for it! And good luck!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. This programme is great fun and will take you from zero to hero in 9 weeks. I wish I had had your foresight when I was your age! Read the guide to the programme under the pinned posts, for all you need to know, drop in here regularly for help and support and prepare to be addicted :)

Welcome and a great idea to start this brilliant programme.

Just one word of warning/advice 😊 you say you have an addictive personality, well this running lark is also addictive so do make sure you take your rest days, especially at the beginning, or you will run the risk of injury or burnout. It is all explained in the link below if you haven't found it in pinned posts yet.

Well done, like you have just started on this couch to 5K program after having dropped 54lbs in weight since October. Definitely feeling healthier & more confident since starting, but I must master the art of keeping my earphones in while jogging 🤔🤣

Welcome! Each of us has our own reasons for starting this programme. Mine was to be able to do a Parkrun before September when I turn 51! I’m on week 7 and feel ready to do a PArkrun now. It’s fairly easy to get addicted to running I’ve found. Enjoy your running, and this forum. You get a lot of support and encouragement and quite a few laughs along the way 😄

I’d like to possibly try a park run at some point. I think there’s plenty of local ones.

Welcome to the forum.

You fit the demographic and by the sounds of things personality too, to decide that this thing is too easy and you will go your own way. Annie has obviously spotted that potential too. That is the quickest way to stop running. The training plan is structured as it is for good scientific reasons to avoid injury.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Sorry for the lecture but we want you to succeed injury free.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you. I do enjoy it. Need to get the proper kit sorted too. My trainers are probably 10 years old!
